You have no idea how reporting works

Doesn't matter if it was a QB sneak.
The reporters are granted access to practices by custom AND at the discretion of the coaches.
If the coaches asked that certain activity NOT be reported and the guy reports it anyway (in detail), close practices as to him.
This is not a close question and the predictability of Les' offense has nothing in mitigation of this breach of trust by the reporter.
Pull his pass...

Based on the information given, you don't really need to "understand how reporting works."

Lol. I will never cease to be amazed what grown men type on this board.

And this CLEARLY falls within those parameters. 100%.

No there's not. And there never has been. Some reporters are coaches "pet's" and live for access to the program, and others DGAF. It's always been that way.
No. You are simply wrong.
quote:
Les runs one of the most "closed" programs in America. That's his prerogative. But reporters serve an entirely different master. They serve their readership. And readers want information.
He does. And, if reporters don't adhere to the requests made by the coach, then what do you think will happen. I have no idea if that's the case here or not.
quote:
A reporter mentioned that LSU ran a wheel route. And grown men are agitated about that. This is Silly Land stuff here. The story is not that Les told Bonette to tell the press not to report something. The story is not that Jim Kleinpeter did what his job requires. The story is that grown men are so starved for drama that they take to a message board to demand that a writer gets sanctioned for saying LSU ran a wheel route on the third day of practice. Like it's a state secret. And like Les is the Keeper of The Secrets. And like Kleinpeter is some wild-eyed 1st Amendment Warrior. It's a freaking wheel route.
I agree it's not a big deal. I said that already. But, keep building that strawman so that you have an argument you think you can win with.

So the reporter's "job" trumps the school's/coach's job?

Grown men.
I keep reminding myself.
These are grown men.
I can tell you with authority that college coaches make all kinds of requests upon beat writers. Some honored, some not. But the writer is under no prerogative to honor said request. If the Coach wants to restrict access he can, but he runs the risk of alienating a media outlet and a segment of the fan base that wants a Coach at a State University to be better than that. A Coach does not have all the leverage in this relationship, and a Coach who alienates the media over minor matters on the third day of Fall practice, usually ends up getting paid back when he least needs it. That's not how my man Les rolls..
Grown men crying about the "disclosure" of a wheel route. Like Kleinpeter is a Soviet spy. You guys crack me up.

for me, its not so much that he reported it, its more the fact of how he did it. it was kind of like he threw it in their face that he was reporting it
Posted on 8/9/15 at 4:32 pm to nolatrain504
I took it that he was reporting to his readers what he considered to be a silly request. His job is not to indulge the LSU Coaching staff and the administration, his job is to report to the readers what he sees and his impression on what he sees. The media "pushes back" on Les Miles and every other LSU Coach with regularity. They aren't there to be The State Sports Media Organ. That's Bonnette's job. God bless him, he does a great job of promoting the Official LSU Narrative, but he's not paid to tell us the truth of any particular thing. That's the media's responsibility.
Personally, the more independent the reporter, the more likely I am to read them and respect them. But if you and others want everything scrubbed by the Coaching Staff and Athletic/Sports Information Department first, well bless your little hearts.

JEESUS! Can anyone read? The article said media were asked not to post video. Did he? No! Were they asked not to describe what they saw? Apparently NOT! So, what the Hell is the problem? Evidently the OP is too stupid to read what he himself wrote, or he's just trolling all of the idiots that fell for it!

Kleinpeter doesn't work for LSU.
And they're not going to pull his credentials. Just stop.

Seems that some here believe the public and the press have right to know (and report as news) the strategies reflected in LSU football practice. Perhaps these include "grown men".
However, their assumption is wrong.
The coaches can and do close practice at will.
IF the reporter did what he was asked NOT to do, he should not be allowed back.

When I can call plays while drunk on my couch based upon the LSU offensive formation, I give zero fricks if the whole offensive playbook is put up on the internet for all to disseminate.

A wheel route? I know sometimes that play is called "Seattle" when ran from bunch. Thanks Madden
A wheel route, huh? So LSU's offense is finally coming into the 21st century. Good to know.

I don't think the point is who is wanting information but if Les asked them not to publish something and he did then that's another story. Yes, he's paid to do his job but every reporter knows there is give and take with who you cover. Screw them over and watch your information dry up.
If it is a joke then
. If he blatantly violated the trust of Les then the joke is on him.
