Who would you want - Kermit, I mean Kent Lowe? Nothing would be worse than having him...

If yall are looking for someone to replace Hawthorne, Charlie Hannigrif is your guy. From what I understand. He will replace Jimmy H.

I don't care who replaces him. Just someone who will do a little homework. You know, maybe learn the players names/numbers/positions.
It'd also be nice to have someone who will give the score every once in a while during a baseball game. There is nothing worse than listening to 25 minutes of baseball just to hear what the score is.
I don't buy into the whole "he's the voice of the Tigers" crap. You don't need a bumbling idiot representing the university.
I'd much rather have someone that just presents the game well and does a decent job.
But, listening to Jim's negativity no matter what's going on has made me realize one thing. He's perfect for all the Rantards on here that like to moan and complain about 40 point wins.

Jim Henderson is a more polished announcer than Jim Hawthorne right now.......but I still like both.
Hawthorne had a great call of the winning hit in the CWS three months ago. It was on YouTube then but I can't find it online this morning.

Get used to it beacuse Hawthornes got this job until he feels like retiring.

Some of you guys are missing the point. We all love JH, he's just not very good at his job. We're too good of a program to keep somebody just because he's been around forever and loves LSU. I think we could find one guy who knows how to be an announcer. Look at some of the pro guys if you need to know what an announcer looks like. Vin Scully can announce a Dodgers game for three hours by himself, get all the plays right, and keep you entertained the whole time. So it's possible.

everybody makes mistakes dude. so if you were an announcer you would always get names and numbers and stats and names of formations and every other thing to say on the spur of the moment live (right). like lynn rollins never makes mistakes. you say he is mildly retarted i say your a major DOUCHEBAG.

The thing I really like about Hawthorne is that he's an LSU fan and it's obvious. When the other team makes a great play, he calls it like you or I would.
That's exactly the thing I hate. It's OK to be a fan of the team you're calling, but there's a way to do it without sounding like such homer.
By the way, Henderson and Archie Manning were the best. They were informative, funny and didn't take themselves too seriously.

but you all need to realize that some of us have been listening to LSU football since back in the 1950s. You all close to the LSU area are blessed to have a clear strong signal around there
Back in my day we hiked 10 miles in the snow to the grocery!!!

I am starting to hear the same comments too. I think he is on the air too long on Saturdays. He does a long pre-game and I think he losses some of his edge by the time kick off comes around.

Then let's keep him for basketball, which is his best sport. But can we get somebody else for the big money sport? And, my God, if I have to hear him one more time say a bomb over the left field fence is a popup to left I'm going to puke.

Jim Hawthorne is Jim Hawthorne's boss. Send all complaints there.
Seriously, anyone on here done PBP before? Not as easy as you jokers think. He does ok, plus he's been around forever. I can forgive the wrong name stuf, happens to EVERY PBP guy I have ever known.

I agree - he said "55 yard line" during a broadcast years ago ....I shite you not ....and got the receiver wrong on the Bluegrass Miracle call.......these are 2 of hundreds.......

Seems like I remember a game several years ago where Hawthorne left the booth to sing on the field during halftime. (Yes, they actually mic'd him). Does anyone remember that--did he sing the words correctly?
