What caused this diatribe? What mistakes did he recently make?

i couldnt agree more .. i was in the stands listening to the game and everytime lsu or nt was in the shotgun he would call it the pistol and the first time hatch was actually in the pistol he said sumthin to the effect of "hatch is back there with a running back" ... i was laughin my arse off in the stands

He calls the wrong name at least 10 times a game.
He cant spit the play out because he dont know the name. It like listening to my grandmother cycle trough everyones name before getting to the right one.

I know he probably makes mistakes, but you all need to realize that some of us have been listening to LSU football since back in the 1950s. You all close to the LSU area are blessed to have a clear strong signal around there, but those of us a good distance away still listening on our car radios or trying to find a tiger broadcast have much difficulty when it comes to finding stations. I don't know about a lot of other fans, but (if I can't get WWL) I "surf" the dial until I hear a voice that sounds like Hawthorne. There is no other one as distinct, just as there was no other one than John "The Voice" Ferguson. I can pick out Hawthorne's voice in the midst of all the static here in Central Florida and pretty much tell what's going on in the game. So if the man retires, PLEASE get someone whose voice is so distinct as to identify him with Tiger sports. Or just keep him and bear with him.

So suck it up cheap asses, get tickets and go to the games.

I like him.

And I liked Harry Caray til the end, errors and all.

Georgia fans are ready for Larry Munson to retire for the same reasons - he calls the wrong names, wrong formations, ect.
