Love the guy to death and I hope he stays "the voice of the tigers" for a long time. Calls em as he sees em and speaks his mind. What are your guys thoughts?

I personally think he is just not a very good announcer. In each sport, he has a particular weakness that shows up. He's a whiner, and I think LSU should be able to find someone who loves LSU as much as Jim does, but who actually knows what he is doing behind the mic.

He's a loyal Tiger and he's not terrible, but old age is making him a little grumpy. He used to be on point to a certain extent with basketball and now he's just not there anymore.
Hannagriff could take over baseball tomorrow if he wanted to and would be okay. Kevin Ford certainly is not going to replace him Jim in basketball...not sure what to do there. As for football, I don't know who we'll get. Hannagriff's not got the voice for football as he's more laid back and monotoned. So, hoops and football will have to find a brand new guy. But let Hannagriff do baseball.

I can't take all of the "LSU NEEDS TO STOP THEM HERE" and "LSU REALLY NEEDS TO SCORE RIGHT HERE" 5 minutes into the 1st half...not to mention the guy literally messes up about 50% of the play by play

Also, the math screwups get very old.

take it from someone who is studyin communications it's not as easy as it seems. I think a play by play guy is one of the most scrutinized around. i personally think Hawthorne does a great job, but if any of yal can do it better i suggest yal give it a try.

I don't like him and stopped listening to LSU sports because of him. He's not dynamic nor inspiring. He's one of the worst SEC play by play guys. He sounds amateurish and lacks Gravitas.

And many others can do and have done better. This goes back to the "can't rag on Les Miles if you've never been a coach" or "can't rag on the president if you've never been in a position of power."

People can say what they want, but I would not want to hear anyone else anouncing football, Basketball or baseball other than Hawthorne. The sound of his voice fires me up. Not because he's good or bad, it's because he is the voice of the tigers.
