Does LSU have anyone with the last name of Phillips on the team???

Was Hawthorne possibly thinking that Jeremy Hill reminded him of Lawrence Phillips???

Jesus A Christ... Jim Hawthorne!!

Lorenzo phillips also wears 33 but I don't think that was what caused the confusion by JH

ANYONE who works for the same company for 30 years, should be honored.

Yeah, Hawthorne has made some pretty memorable screw-ups regarding player names over the years. I guess he just has more than the normal number of brain farts.

He's OK I guess, but he's definitely no John Ferguson.

Man has put 30 years of his life doing this.
He's more a part of LSU than you'll ever be.

JH makes LSU football more exciting, Ill miss him when hes gone, as will pretty much every other logical LSU fan.

FWIW they played his 3rd qrter highlights on the big screen during break before 4th qrtr started.. Sounded great.. people seemed to enjoy it.

I appreciate his service, but that doesn't mean he should be doing play-by-play. I get to listen to a lot of other play-by-play announcers. Sorry, but Hawthorne ain't even in the top 25.

You don't even know 25 sports announcers you stupid frick.

And unfortunately for you, you don't have a say should or shouldn't be doing play by play.
I'd rather JH stay and you go be a fan of ole miss.

What are you? 12?

Apparently you are personal friends with JH, which is causing you to lose your objectivity.

Again, I understand that he bleeds P&G. A lot of people do, but that doesn't make them good play-by-play announcers. Hell, if we kept people around simply because of their loyalty, Cholly Mac would have died on the sidelines coaching LSU.

The man is close 70, for crying out loud. At some point, age dictates that we aren't as good as we once were. That has been the case with Hawthorne for years. I, for one, am tired of listening to his slow decline and would love nothing more than to have him be reassigned to some kind of PR job in the athletic department. He's a great ambassador for the school, but LSU and its fans deserve a better play-by-play guy.

Sorry you keep taking this as a personal attack against JH. It's not. It's simply an assessment of his abilities as a play-by-play man.
