It WAS an inside read/out route.

What was the read? All of the defenders were inside. If it wasn't a fade, it was an out or a curl out - from that distance, probably just an out. However, we don't really know what was called - lots of things happen on the goal line.

But if JJ would have looked as if there was a receiver on the right, maybe the safety would have hesitated for a moment, questioned his own and JJ's sanity and bought enough space to make the play. THINK ABOUT IT!

may be they'll use this play to setup a delay release by the tight end.

I thought it was more of a good game kind of thing. A way of telling him he was done for that game.

He looked at the Safety to see if he blitzed or not. That was his post-snap read.

Also...all of this took place in 2 seconds. Look at the clock at the snap and the clock as the ball is leaving JJ's hand.

you're still missing the point, it was a timing throw, thrown to the sidelines to a spot where only Randle could catch it

I noticed this as well - it was a one man route and it was covered. It was well done by JJ.

Hate to be critical when LSU is doing so well, but it seems that many of their passing plays are one man routes. Why can't there be second and third options for the QB to look to if the first are covered?

I went back and watch this play on the Cox replay. It is evident that you photo shopped # 9 in as double coverage.

A 14 page thread on one play - this is ridiculous.

It was obvious JJs timing was off on the play. It's a quick drop and throw to the spot, having faith in your receiver... but he just kept dropping back before trying to make a decision. Even Danielson said, "ew that's ugly."

The safety moving over does not = double covered. A quick pass makes the safety irrelevant. I'm sure we could break down Lee's TD to TT against UF like this and the only difference would be that he got rid of it quickly and let the receiver make the play. Same can be said for his poorly thrown balls in this situation.

so you're of the opinion that the QB, in this case, would wait to see which way the receiver breaks, checks to see if he's open, then drills the ball in...all while the receiver is running full speed toward the sideline, which is 5 yards away? Or maybe you think that somehow a one-man, 8-10 yard route is somehow going to be wide-arse open after 1.5 seconds?

there can be, there can also be blitzes and negative plays including turnovers. I think they still must protect JJ with one option. I dont think that Lee is great at quick decisions, but JJ is pretty poor. And with the congested field, I think JJ has a hard time deciding to go ahead and run, unlike when there is more field in front.

This is not critical IMO, this is just the facts of our QB play. It must be managed, and so far it has been.

That was funny!!!

I just figured something out. I actually still have the game on the DV-R and now I know why some of these posters keep saying "Fade". It has been driving me nuts...

But I just re-watched the play at full speed and Gary Danielson says, "They like to go the fade to Ruben Randle down here"

So I am guessing that is where they are getting their misinformation.

Ball should've been out at pic 3/4. Defender's back is turned so he doesn't have a shot and the safety is too far away to make a play.

Please read this slow because in my mind I am saying it slow so you will understand. If I wasn't typing I would be doing the hand thing as well.

Jefferson is reading the safety, safety takes away inside route, the corner then ends up above RR, he breaks out and safety continues underneath. HI/LOW coverage...Double coverage...with the safety now in the passing lane.

Florida anticipated what LSU was going to do...Florida took away our options. Thus, Jefferson had the choice to throw it up for grabs, try to drill it in like Aaron Rogers, or throw it away. The up for grabs option and the Aaron Rogers option would have been intercepted.

I am only guessing on this, but I am willing to bet his coaches told him...throw it away if the man is covered.

Make sense now

Even better, wanting him to throw an interception so they can say "told you so"

Of the many stupid things you have posted, this might be #1. Unless you were the one that suggested that there were some that wanted JJ arrested so he couldn't start, in which case, this will be a close second.

i remember this play. jj held on to the ball too long. pre-snap he should have reconized the man to man with no safety over the top. and in pic 3 he should be starting to throw it. throw it high towards the back pylon where only rr can get to it.

look at pic 5, rr is staring his break. he still could have thrown high to towards the side line where only rr can catch it. the ball should be coming out at this point.

pic 6 rr is all the way out of his break and he should be extending towards the sideline for the catch.

this play should have been a score if jj knew how to pre-snap read and then recognize coverage.

I understand perfectly what you are saying...you're stll wrong. I have no problem with the play, timing plays like that are tough when you've been out for a while, I'm sure they'll hit it next time.
