But Jefferson, a senior who was scheduled to start before being arrested and suspended eight days before the season opener, said returning to the starting lineup “is a personal goal of mine.”

“It’s very important to me,” he said. “I would do whatever it takes to get to that situation, but as of right now, it’s what’s best for the team.”

I just can't help but be bothered a little by that last part....

Ummmm, shouldn't it ALWAYS be what's best for the team, Jordan? Or is all this only about you?

I didn't like the idea of JJ getting booed when he came in- but he did little in this interview to dispell any impressions that he is a bit arrogant.

Jordan Jefferson has never taken responsibility for his actions on or off of the field....and he never will. Also, his belief that a 20-7 record is good by LSU's standards is only proof that he doesn't have a clue.

Jordan, your offense was ranked in the last 10 of college football the last two years. This team won despite you, not because of you. Does he really believe the crap that comes out of his mouth?

There is not a doubt in my mind that he kicked this guy in the head, but the jury had no choice but to reduce his charge because of the number of witnesses that spoke on his behalf.

This has nothing to do with race or the fact that Jordan Jefferson is a football player. Matter of fact, he should be thankful that he is indeed a popular football player or he would be behind bars right now.

JJ comes off as a complete and utter jerk

I posted what I thought last night about him coming across as selfish by saying "I" so much and referring to his goals and his record as LSU quarterback.

As long as the team is behind him and welcome him back as their brother, then none of this really matters (because they do seem to be pumped about him being back--Lee even showed him some encouragement)

I just wish he would represent our university in a better way. I'll leave it to the coaches/players and not have an opinion about chemistry or on the field performance. I do care about how LSU is viewed by the nation, though. On that note, screw the booers.

A 21 year old kid gives a statement about where he stands with the team and his goals and he gets bashed for it. Again, takes a better person to stand up to the media and versus ones who come on here and continually bash him for no reason. He made a mistake, sat out 4 games, and people still want him to suffer. I hope these negative comments inspire him to be a better QB and lead LSU to a championship.

Right. I guess it was also racist when most whites supported Rohan Davey over Josh Booty.

This. I was one of those "whites". Loved Davey, couldn't stand Booty.

Lee's offense this year isn't doing much better. The passing offense is slightly up, but the rushing offense is slightly down. Overall offense is still about the same as last year, and why should it change? This is Les Mile's offense. Won't matter who is at Quarterback.

The difference this year is starting field position because of a better defense, and better redzone efficiency because of the lack of turnovers especially in the redzone

Every one of the JJ hater will take his comments negatively. If you don't have an agenda, his interview doesn't sound nearly as bad as you guys are making it.

It's not the only time we've ever heard JJ speak. The man seems to have a problem admitting his mistakes. That's a problem b/c of the way it affects him and the team, not b/c of how we perceive it. He seems to lie to himself, and the conventional wisdom is that lying to yourself about your failures makes it harder to improve. I'm not trying to be JJ's psychiatrist, just trying to explain why people have a problem with the way he talks about himself. People feel like his inability to be honest with himself hurt LSU when he was the starting QB, and it's not hard to see why.

This is the truth brother...I guess OJ didn't do it either because he was found innocent.

If Jordan Jefferson was just a regular non football thug the charges would have definitely stuck. I can't stand how people take up for this guy...please help!!! what's the reason for it?

Lee's offense this year isn't doing much better.

First 5 games of 2011: 38 points/game
First 5 games of 2010: 24.4 points/game

There are defensive/special teams touchdowns mixed in for both years, but don't come posting some bullshite about how the 2011 offense "not doing much better"

A team putting up 2 touchdowns more per game, whether it be due mostly to Crowton being gone or not, is a hell of a lot better.

Also, through 5 games Lee has started with 7 touchdowns and only 1 interception. How did Jefferson start out last season?
