Neither was Lee. I think some fans are just having a hard time believing that JJ could not run a SINGLE play in the 'Bama game. Not even the 3rd and short where Lee overthrew the RB horribly. He could have simply run for the 1st down and extended the drive.

We are in BIGGER trouble than ever realized if Pryor can start for tOSU but out True Frosh can't run a f'ing series of plays. JJ must be the most over-rated player ever.

It's unfair to waste the kids RS when it wasn't yet necessary to play him. Then you won't give him a snap here and there. That is totally piss-poor management by our coaches.

So you have been to all the practices and watch him perform so good in practice that you think he should start? So, how many practices have you been to?

Maybe you should transfer because you are not getting any quality time on this board

Jefferson should stay a tiger. He needs to continue to work hard. He will get his chance to play. I thought Sheppard was recruited to play receiver at LSU. Garrett has a long way to go before he plays.

Start?

What the hell! You do know that a player can receive PT w/o starting right? Start Lee but give JJ a few plays here and there. If he fricks up, oh well. Trust me, we have grown to expect bad play from the QB position.

Wrong... Miles had said in the week leading up to the game that he would play. JJ was getting 50% of the snaps in practice, so unless they were running the same 2 plays over and over while JJ was taking the snaps then he does know more than 2 or 3 plays of the offense. And FWIW I know and spoke to someone who was at those practices, not as a bystander, who said JJ WAS in fact ready and he would see some action in this game. Again FWIW...

quote:

Maybe it was because I was in the stadium and didn't have the benefit of the CBS announcers' predetermined script being overlayed on the action, but I didn't think Lee's performance was all that bad

I really don't know which passes you were looking at, except for maybe the pass to Byrd for a TD and the dropped pass to Mitchel, but JL look BAD... even his completions were off target passes that his WRs made adjustments for..

I hear people say that the pass that Byrd dropped for an INT was not Lee's fault, and i'll give them that one, but if you take away all the passes that the WRs caught that were either high, behind them or both in some cases, JL doesn't complete but maybe 5 or six passes...

quote:

overall, he gave us a better chance to win than he has done in any other game

we obviously were not watching the same game....

quote:

Would a mature Ryan Perriloux have been better? Sure. Would a totally inexperienced Jefferson? I seriously doubt it.

I don't believe JJ could possibly done worse.. JL lost the game for us, how could JJ done worse than that.. Maybe he throws 3 or 4 ints, and maybe ones run back for a TD??? that's what JL did.

All that being said, I do believe the offensive playcalling put JL in some bad positions sometimes. The third and 17 in the first half, we should have run the ball. And if you have a QB that is inaccurate, you should never call for a pass over the middle, sideline passes down the field where even if overthrown, would be difficult to intercept...

But then again, what do i know, i'm just a fan....

Shepherd a receiver
That kid is our QB of the future. If he enrolls in January he has a real shot to be the starting QB next year. He is that good. If anyone has any doubts go to youtube or rivals and see for yourselves!!!!!
The point of my originial post is the simple fact that JJ will be lost in the shuffle and whither away.

Obviously he is not ready, i don't blame miles for not putting him in the game, i do blame him for not getting him ready to play

There's NOT some conspiracy or plot by Les Miles to screw Jefferson out of playing time. What scares me is that we recruited a QB that apparently doesn't have enough between the ears to digest a few plays well enough that both Miles and Crowton feel comfortable putting him in there for a little while. My god, how hard is it learn a few offensive plays? We are going to sink or swim with Mr.P6 because JJ hasn't shown Miles and Crowton in practice that he can even run a few rudimentary plays. That's hard to believe because they see him in practice every day and apparently don't think he can relieve JL for even one or two series. There's something there that they don't like. As bad as JL has been, what does it say when the coaches don't even feel that JJ could come in and offer a change of pace for a short time?.........

I think JJ will get PT now.
Shame on Miles if by now JJ is not ready to play against Troy State.

So what was Miles supposed to say?

Yes, Hatch has a broken leg, and won't play, and there's no way JJ is near ready to run our offense... So HEY NICK!! Don't worry about planning for any QB mobility or schemeing for anyone but Lee!!!!

Good grief!

I am sure that JJ got whatever few snaps he did in practice was mostly just for the "gates of hell" possibility that JL was injured and couldn't take a snap. What part of the fact that we are down to our 3rd string QB having to START with no upperclassman supporting cast do you people not grasp???

There is NO WAY to have QB's 1-4 all ready to go into an SEC deathmatch at any given point in time in every season. JJ was not ready to face the flames Sat. night (and it would be the Rarest of all circumstances for him to be). I think it was in his, and LSU's best interest that he wasn't forced into it.

He'll get plenty of playing time this weekend and then all of you can shut up about his RS. Seriously, I could care less about his RS, I'm not so sure why people are personally invested in this argument.

I hate to say this, but if he doesn't get an opportunity this year, I think he will consider it. They blew his rs so far, for him to hand the ball off against Tulane and an option play against Moo St. I hope Miles will play him this weekend and he will do well, so we can see him against Ole Miss and Arky. Even if he sets the world on fire, he will not start against Ole Piss or Arky.

Or how about he mans-up like Travis Daniels did when he was asked to lose his red shirt for the team when a man went down? Daniels always said he played for the name on the front of the jersey not the name on the back. Maybe just maybe some of these kids have more loyalty than the supposedly more mature fan-base.
