he did... but we arent debating the numbers from last game but his overall numbers, i personally would take a dip in completion percentage for an increase in yards per game, we will need JJ to throw for 300 yards to beat UGA this weekend

the problem is that he is gaining these stats with 5 yard passes, and dinks and dumps, i would love to see how many of those yards are yards after the catch, i would say easily 70% of them
no that's not the problem, he is getting the ball to his playmakers, and winning ballgames,
check out drew brees(not comparing their skills, or styles) next week we throw short passes all of the time then hit them deep with the bombs,

once again this thread was not about if JJ can win ball games... its about his STATS... and i was merely pointing out that his yards per game isnt that impressive, and hes been in position to throw the ball deep down the field risking interceptions
we will see what he can do after we are losing by two touchdowns and hes asked to win us the game by passing down the field... but once again i like JJ as a qb

I have been very impressed with Jefferson. Fans had worries about Jefferson coming into the season and the running game, which we thought was our strength, has been no existent. If we had a running game, Jefferson's stats would be better. By the second half in the MSU game, they knew that we couldn't run and they kept blitzing. Defenses are going to continue blitzing Jefferson until we do develop the running game. The problem is not the RBs. The problem is the O line. I think Jefferson will continue to progress as the season goes on. He has made good decisions. The only problem I have with him is the 2-3 delay of game penalties we had against MSU. I am not sure if the problem was him or the coaches getting the signals in. I know his timing could be better, but I think he will improve as the year goes on. I hope to see LSU open up the offense this week and see what Jordan can do with the full playbook.

Those stats don't tell the whole story IMHO.
As someone else in the thread metioned, JJ has missed on a lot of deep balls and has below average touch on short passes. He is also staring down a lot of receivers and drawing defenders to them. He has been careful with the ball and hasn't thrown many pics (a couple of easy ones have been dropped), but I would say he is being a little too tentative. There was a big 3rd down ion the MSU game when he threw to a well covered receiver that had no chance to get the first, instead of trying to make a play to a receiver down the field.
He has talent, but he does need to develop a down the field game or our O-line will continue to look bad trying to block 8 in the box.
Have we thrown a slant pattern this season? He either throws 5-10 yard outs, WR screens, or way down the field. We have very little mid-range passing game right now.
The question is: is this because Crowton doesn't trust him to make those plays, or is he choosing to only throw to a subset of routs?
We are probably going to find out in the next two games.

250+ a game would be a good start.
We also need 150 - 200 yrds rushing to go with that.

The surprising part is that he has pretty good numbers with absolutely no pass protection. Imagine if he actually gets time to run through his reads and get off better passes.

Don't get me wrong, I am a JJ fan. I think that he has made progress and will continue to develop into a good SEC QB.
But I think that if he was putting up 250-300 yards a game, we would be able to run the ball more efficiently. If I was Georgia or Florida, I would do what every other team we've played against this year has done. I'd put 8 or 9 in the box and make Jordan Jefferson beat you.
Our inability to run the ball is a combination of...
1. Our O-line (especially our center and 2 guards) playing like Sallys,
2. The Wizard being a false prophet
3. Teams not respecting our passing game

One thing i noticed in the replay last night was that a couple of times, JJ had a man wide open but he didn't see him. I think he is doing great under the circumstances, but I think he can be an elite qb if or when he starts seeing more of the field each play.

JJ is a winner. It would be helpful if his buddies on the OL would open up some holes for the RB.

Take out the very part and I agree.

Yeah, but a couple of determined posters (I won't used the term knuckleheads - there's way too much name calling being thrown around in various different directions) on a message board can create a lot of sound and fury.

not saying he is bad, but its the play calling that is giving him these stats, and game breaking wide receivers we have
good thing he is the only qb in the nation to have these.

i would rather keep watching him play with a lead.
