Just because many people were justifiably critical of his play at times last year, doesn't mean they hated him. I've followed TD pretty closely, and have not really come across any posts that would qualify as actual hate, although I'm sure there may have been a rare few that were missed.

I don’t think that poster meant “hate” in the literal sense.

That being said, “justifiably critical” is subjective. I would argue that a lot of the criticism was not justifiable, and was more rooted in a desire to see a very specific style of offense while completely ignoring the merits of JD’s talents. I certainly don’t think all of the criticism was irrational, but there was a very vocal contingent who believed Daniels needed to be benched.

Again, whether that was “justifiable criticism” is subjective. In my opinion, it was not. Regardless, I’m a bit surprised to see anyone saying they don’t remember those folks. It was nonstop. It might have been a minority but they were extremely vocal about it to the point of being absolutely insufferable.

Never really understood how any LSU fan could hate JD

His inability to throw the downfield pass has much to do with it. It had absolutely nothing to do with JD as a person.

The problem is people like you conflate valid criticism as hate. It’s disingenuous and pathetic

Even if someone disagreed with him starting I don't think anyone actually hated him. He absolutely gives his all and is a class act. No reason for anyone to hate him.
trust me, there is at least ONE person that hates him. If you follow the LSU media bubble that is on YouTube, there is a guy running 6-7 different accounts commenting nothing but hating Daniels and obsessing over Nuss. It is pretty insane. I'm talking 100s and 100s of comments. Looks like long arse diary entries.

Because they think every quarterback we get is supposed to look like Joey B

This. It completely spoiled the fanbase. People don't realize that there isn't another starting QB in LSU history who had a first year at LSU like Daniels had. Look at every transfer that came here, every high profile guy from high school. Right now he's 2nd in total offense in a single season, 3rd if you add in Davey's bowl game. He's 2nd in points and I think 2nd in cmp% or 3rd at worst.

And people can't pull the "nobody is hating" crap when people literally say he cannot improve and he can't pass. When I see one or both of those, you instantly fall into hating category. Only stupid people believe that. If people couldn't still improve, how could they succeed at the next level?

There are 3 different transfers that improved over the last 10 years at LSU. If you use Etling's progression, Daniels will throw for 24-25 TDs. If you go with Mett's improvement, Daniels is sitting front row at the Heisman ceremony.

Nah. About half this board is rude and types things about others that I wouldn't do, but I don't recall hate towards JD.

My momma raised me better than that. I am old school in that regard. Of course, my momma raised 4 wild boys and walked around the house with a leather belt around her neck. That instills good manners. Need more mommas like that.

Question. How many QBs have come to LSU after starting three years at another university? Has there ever been an LSU QB in a similar situation?

Except almost every QB who has started at LSU.
Even Tommy Hodson got blasted, after having a great start to his career. His first game was win against a ranked T A&M team. He was outstanding.
Then his receivers left, his production dropped, and Hodson became a POS.
Were you around when Jamie Howard was QB?

I get your meaning, but I believe you mixed up your seasons there.
