30 Strikeouts in 96 official AB's. That's one SO every 3.2 AB's. Way too much. And I would bet that 20 of the 30 are looking.

He is a great talent, but there is room for Offensive improvements.

OK...all you pussies who get mad when anything negative is mentioned, flame away.

This thread is absolutely inane... you think Jared Mitchell strikes out too much - cool!

Of course there is room for improvement. There is with nearly every player on every team. Once he gets on the bases he is a pain in the arse for opposing teams though.

Oh and that catch in left field was really nice today. Very tough ball to make a play on and he played it perfect.

It's somewhat unexpected for Jared, he's usually pretty solid at working the count to his advantage to draw a walk or a fat pitch.

He still leads the team in OB%, by far.

Of course, there always is.

No that isn't "Way too much" especially when he is getting on base at a rate of .504. (Second in the SEC.) He is getting on base, that is his number one job.

The problem isn't that you are being negative, the problem is Jared Mitchel is far and away doing his job, and looking at a few strikeouts is his way of doing his job successfully.

Hard to argue the numbers. He handles his own in the field too.

He has walked 31 times, which is great. I personally think he's too selective, which explains the deep counts, the walks, and the K's. He's a bopper. If he sat on more first pitches, he would put up much better power numbers.

Again, I think he's our best player. But he has the potential to be a top 20 pick if he taps his talent.

Best MLB prospect on our team. I've talked to a scout for the White Sox who said he was most likely a first round pick. His hitting is the only question mark at the next level. Speed and defense are where they need to be.

Agreed. The pressure he puts on the defense when he gets on base is unbelievable. Many people don't realize that he's been playing with a sore hammy the last few weeks.

it's what he has done the last 2 years. Not just this year. That is what i was trying to say.

but he is getting on base a lot more this year, and hitting better, so i cant really complain. Unless he starts to let it get to his head, it wont be a problem.

He now has 40 SO's in 116 AB's which means he struck out 10 times in his last 20 official AB's.

I went to the games on Saturday and Sunday. He has really lost a lot of confidence. I hope he can work his way out of it soon. He's too talented to think about sitting.

I'm not real famililar with the Hitting Coach that left, or the one that took his place this year. SOMETHING is obviousley different.

He is almost on pace to set a single season LSU record for striking out. The record is 73 strikeouts by Gary Hymel in the 1991 season. If JM continues striking out (which I personally don't think he will, partly because I don't think Coach M will continue to bat him leadoff) at the same pace as last weekend at 'bama and this weekend vs. Tenn, he will break this dubious record.

well it's obvious he has trouble with the left handed curve and we've been seeing a huge number of lefties because of our lineup, sooooooo

Yeah. He has 30 strike outs. There ya go. What else can I say?

I got nothing except that he probably should be dropped in the lineup so that he doesn't have the pressure of lead off and trying to go deep in the count. You just hate to do that because he's the type of guy that will get a hit with a 3-2 count.

Maybe time to sit him for a while, can't hurt.

It's true. And 9 out of 10 coaches admit that losing a series is not a good way to win your league or conference. I bet you didn't know that either.
