the problem isn't his physical ability - he's got that (at least now that he's dropped the weight). The problem is his mental approach.

Being a successful NFL QB is so much more than having a rocket arm, it's the ability to read defenses, having complete command of the playbook, film study, and leadership both on and off the field. I'm not sure he's got all of this.

2 and 4 are taken. The only numbers left in Chicago are 3, 5, and 7.

I think he's going to make a team as a backup

Agreed!! Funny how some people forget just how talented JR is. What he has is God-given....it's all about work ethic and reading a defense with him, I think he's figured out the work issue.
I heard on the radio today he's gotten into the 250's now....hopefully Jeff Garcia has taught him something in the classroom, that's all I'm worried about at this point

USA Today reports free agent QB JaMarcus Russell is drawing a "significant amount of interest" from the Ravens in addition to the Bears. Let's get the party started. Teams must actually like what they're seeing/hearing from the No. 1 overall pick of the 2007 draft, whose last NFL pass came in January 2010. Still only 28 (in August), Russell's booming arm is the stuff of legends, but so is his terrible work ethic and off-the-field issues. He'd have to show extremely well in camp to get a crack at a 53-man roster spot.

If he could get on a practice squad this year that would be huge in itself.

As I lay in bed sick the last 3 days I have been thinking of JR more often than usual as I sip on my "purple drank" every 6 hours (as prescribed).

But in all seriousness, I absolutely wish him the best and that he can lay his personal demons to rest and go out on top. I hope he is able to show the world the heart of a champion and the eye of the Tiger.

Here in TN., the Titans may need a QB after this year.... not sure Locker is the answer. Hope JR makes it somewhere !

part of me hopes he gets on with a CFL team so he can actually play, and then tears it up for a year

Was there any interest from the Saints. It's not like the saints have a solid backup.

I generally dislike the bears, but if Jamarcus makes the team, I'll have to rethink it
