I hope he has a good season, but the dude never lived up to his 5 star hype. Moreover, I wouldn't be surprised to see Loston starting by mid season.

I meant in the starting combo of Jai and Taylor. A high profile college is not going to be wanting of a true SS.

LSU's D-Line is also (as many have noted) incredibly tiny compared to other years

I hope Jai does well, but I could see Loston starting pretty quickly. Guy is a beast.

Eh, not exactly a vote of confidence against a huge wall of beef like Bama.

This too. If we're relying on the safeties toom much to stop the run, it ain't good anyway. But nonetheless, Jai Eugene can tackle just fine.

Why do people always say this... Season after season safeties lead teams in tackles.. Laron Landry? Harry Coleman his first year at safety? Its not necassarily a bad thing just because they lead team in tackles.. Safeties have to come up and play the run.. Especially a strong safety.. To have to converted cornerbacks at safety is a worry especially when people are saying we wont be able to stop run bc of our "small" defensive line

You didn't need to say that. Hatcher is a heavy hitter. Jai is a sure tackler with a lot of speed. I would just like to see a ball hawk back there. Craig Loston is just a player. Once he gets knowledge about his responsibilities in Coach Chavis's defense, he will be great.

I'll let you research what percentage of the tackles a safety makes are against the run. Don't have the time. Also, the whole point is this...Jai Eugene to safety is a good move because he's a much better tackler than cover guy. In fact, he's a very good tackler...one of the best on the team.

He is one of the best tacklers as a cornerback.. Now he has to fill lanes and gaps n sometimes take on blockers.. Big difference
