The other thread about 2009 starters made me bring this up. That guy had Hawkins and PP as starters.

I know everyone was hating on Jai before this season but I think he has actually had a great season.

Other than the Georgia touchdown to Green, when there was a terrible corner blitz called, and the South Carolina play where he went after the QB and left the receiver open downfield, which was incomplete anyway, I don't think he's given up many plays.

He's also a beast against the run and in the flat on screens.

I don't think Hawkins has been bad, but to just assume he'll start over Jai doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Anybody else agree, or am I offbase?

He has had a pretty good season. He looks better this year, as opposed to the few times he played last year

No matter who starts, I think the secondary will be much stronger next year. Starters getting some experience and hopefully a few more will be able to step in and contribute such as Phelon Jones.

be honest. if he was having that great of a season we wouldn't be seeing PP that much or PP would be subing in for hawkins.

i won't argue he has improved and i hope he continues to next year.

jai might be the nickleback or come in on the dime next year if PP turns into the corner we expect him to.
which will be great facing the spread offense.

I've said this all year, yet people keep telling me it's Jai.

There's a reason Chris is ALWAYS on the field.

jai came in with alot of hype.

some people have a tough time letting go of said hype.

but he has good competition for his spot.
competition breeds excellence.

All in all I've thought the corners have played pretty well...especially given, we thought they'd be the gaping hole on our D. They've actually played up to their respective levels of expectation. Now the D line and LBs. Hmmm.

I like him, he is good, however...I wish he would find some anti-slippery shoes to wear, because I have seen him slip at least 3 times.

Once against Florida fairly early in the game, there was a pass close to the sideline to Harvin (I believe) and when Jai took the first step towards Harvin he slipped and Harvin ran for many yards on that play.

Jai has had a good year, espescially his first year starting against serious competition. He's a brightspot on this team going forward.

All 3 corners have been impressive, but Jai is not the odd man out. I actually think he's our best corner as of now, if I had to pick an odd man out it would be Hawkins just based on PP's potential. Jai is just too good in coverage and run support.

Jai is an outside guy. CH cant play comfortably with the press, so I think PP would be the best fit at nickel.

Jai has improved lately. His run support is great, but he still has some work to do on his pass defense. It looks like his balance is off, he's always falling down or sliding. I thought terrific corners were always supposed to have 'swivel hips' and great balance?

then why do PP and jai get switched out and hawkins plays the entire game?

maybe the same reason Lee plays the whole game while Jordan Jefferson sits on the sideline

Jai and PP play the same position, and they're both terrific. Hawkins is the best option at his position.

If Miles actually nuts up and fires his BBQ buddies, i suspect Jai might be the nickelback for the real DC that is hired.

they all play cornerback. and if you break it down to left or right, please just don't bother responding.
