FWIW, he does not lead the team in strikeout percentage...that title belongs to Chris Sciambra.

By his defensive abilities alone he should remain in the lineup. He's one of the top middle infielders in the SEC. His average will improve in the coming weeks

a couple of things, does this include starters only, because a guy who played two games at second will mostly likely have a better fielding percentage then a guy who starts ever day.
also where did you find 2nd baseman on this?

I went thru each teams starting second baseman and no i did not count a player who isn't the full time starter

I always love the retards that jump in a thread to try to argue and post one statistic that they think solidies their point and doesn't really know anything, so can't look into anything anymore than just one stat.

ok fine, still far from enough to convince me that he isn't a stout defensive 2nd baseman.
btw he has turne 19th double plays
6th best in SEC
10th most assists in SEC
btw if you don't mind post the 12 starting 2nd baseman in the SEC and lets compare their stats.

Precisely, stats only tell you a small portion of the story. Does fielding % show how many hits Jones has taken away because of his range at 2B? I can think of a lot of balls that most 2B wouldn't have even been able to make a play on, but Jones got over and made it look routine. None of those balls that squeak through on those other teams would be called errors.

and being at the top of assists of 2b if he is I don't know if he is, or at the top of chances of 2b which he could be but IDK if he is, would help show this.
a 2nd baseman who has 90 chances and has 2 errors isn't as good as a 2nd baseman who has 115 chances with 3 errors. even though his fielding percentage is better I would make the same argument with a 90 to 1 chances to error ratio.

Bingo. The guy has made 3 errors this season. One of them was Sunday. The next hitter, he turned a 4-3 DP.
There is more to a story than just one statistical category. The people on this website for some reason don't believe that.

You can't make a blanket statement like this. In Jacoby's case, I agree that he is a much better 2B than a lot of the ones ahead of him with a higher fielder %. However, that isn't always the case. A guy doesn't necessarily have more range because he has 15 more chances lol.

yeah you are correct my fault, I guess range is just one of those things you have to watch the guy to understand how good he is

Yep, which I don't think people on here look at. They look at numbers only. Batting average and fielding percentage. Once those 2 numbers are in front of them a decision is made about their ability, talent and potential all at once.

14 pages? Really" How is this thread still going?
Bench Jones, Switch catchers, rearrange the starting pitchers...you would think this team was 2-22.

nega tigers are like Saban type coaches, even though you are up by like 30 something you still get pissed at your players, or you are like the bama QB who yelled at his Center for not snapping it in time when you had the championship rapped up.

Awesome thread is awesome.

It really has gotten out of hand. How Saban gets into a thread about Jacoby represents all the reasons why our fans are our own worst enemies.
