Jones hit .338 as a freshman. That is where his potential is. Your point becomes more and more solid with each post guy

Jones is benched what does our SEC top feilding percentage go to
currently it is at .982
how many less Double plays do we get a game?
is this fall small enough to justify benching Jones?

He can at least draw walks and play defense like Jones is doing. Has a good glove
Which is exactly why Mainieri moved Jones out of CF to replace him at 2B about 2 weeks into last season.

why do you think it would drop?
let me ask you that.
let me ask you that.

he's hit .243 in the 88 games since then.
which guy do you think we have?

the fact that Jones could play CF and played it well is a testament to his athleticism and is probably enough to justify him being our best option at 2B

because Jones is our best defensive second baseman, he is the best athletically talented player on the team, to think that benching jones would not have a negative impact on our fielding percentage is being stupid.

By his defensive abilities alone he should remain in the lineup. He's one of the top middle infielders in the SEC. His average will improve in the coming weeks.

yocom is a converted SS and is arguably just as good defensively.

RUM HAM?.......Is that you Casey Yocom??

sorry I find it hard to believe that yocom is as good as Jones defensively

He hit .338 over the course of 56 games. 56 + 88 = 144. 56 games is right at 40% of his college game. I could just as easily say we have the guy that hit the .338 as the one that hit .243.
Again, because you clearly did not understand the first time I said it. He has the potential to hit that high. Foster has not shown that potential unless you take the 12 ABs he has had this season as a full season sample.
I'm done debating with you. I will bring this back up when each player gets drafted and we can talk some more about player potential. Cool?

lol, its the only reason he is still on the team. Get a clue

Matt (Lafayette): JaCoby Jones and Ty Ross are off to really slow starts with the bat. Right now, would you say they are likely to return to LSU next season? How dangerous is LSU if they get any offense out of those two?
Aaron Fitt: I really don't see either of those guys returning for their senior years -- major league scouting directors voted both guys onto our preseason All-America teams because they are talented, and up-the-middle skill players like those guys are at a premium. I also expect both guys to get their bats going in the second half, and LSU will be even more dangerous when that happens. I'm very encouraged by the fact that Jones has more walks than strikeouts right now, because the knock on him was always that he swung and missed too much. The hits will come.

nowhere did i say Jones isnt talented.
and still leads LSU in K's...

Then why did he get replaced 2 weeks into the season last year by Jones?

JaCoby is a potential top 50 pick and arguably the best athlete in college baseball.
Posted on 3/25/13 at 3:03 pm to TigerCub
the announcers pointed out the other that jones and sciambra (the two leadoff batters) are 1,2 in walks but also 1,2 in k's.
