Speculation on your part or do you know something?

Speculation or fact?
Cause anybody can throw crap against the wall and see what sticks.

I guess I'm just going off the fact that he is registered for LSU and has his schedule already.

That's meaningless, FYI.

Well people close to him hasn't said anything about him changing his mind. He really wants to come to LSU badly, and the Astros would have to make an extremely high offer to get him away.

We're all hoping for the same thing.
But, if the Astros are truly offering 1.5m right now, there is a significant chance that he won't end up here.

Sure hope he comes though as we all do. The deadline can't get here fast enough.

$1.5 isn't enough. He has already been offered 1.5 by them.

Considering the Astros have been towing the MLB line when it comes to slot bonuses... I don't think Bud and Co. will put up much resistance if the offer Jones 1.5 or more. Just sucks that this kid happened to be an LSU recruit... good for him though, thats big time money.

You don't know that.

You also don't know if that will be the final offer.

Here's my best guess (pure speculation of course). I think 1.5m is probably enough (he's not likely to see that much money in 3 years, especially due to the fact that the MLB is very much looking into a true hard slotting system for the draft). I don't think the Astros want him to sign before their first pick Delino Deshields because then Deshields would probably command a bigger bonus.

Then why did he turn that down already?

Do you really think a Scott Boras client would accept that offer this early in the signing process?

Two possibilities.
1. 1.5M isn't enough to make him skip college baseball.
or
2. He thinks he'll get more and will wait for better offers in the future.
In either scenario, he would not have signed yet. So, you should not speak definitively about the situation.
Common sense should tell you that a 1.5M offer in June is a pretty big threat to him never showing up.

Good news today as the Astros signed a 16 year old Dominican for 2.5+, and they still have Deshields and a 3rd rounder to sign. As an Astros fan I'm glad they are spending money but I've been worried they would make a more serious run at Jones later in the Summer. Now with this signing I don't know that they would be willing to make the kind of investment it would take to get the rest of these guys signed. They would be spending nearly 10 million on a handful of players. Hopefully Jones will be the odd man out.
