as a manager that specialized in turning around regional offices I know that there is some time involved with making effective changes.
I know for a fact those offices actually decreased production after your help!

“ he hired a guy with a very productive”
I think Canada has a chance to be good. I’m willing to acknowledge that his offensive scheme is suffering from a lack of talent a quarterback. It looks better. I have to also take note of the fact that the LSU offense in SEC games is throwing fewer passes, gaining less yds passing., and having a lower percentage of completion then we did in 2015. Also, our total offense is scoring less than we did in 2015.
“ A player or two away”
Seems to me, that statement has been true for LSU for a little while now and might very well be true in 2018.
I’m going to wait to see how the next four games play out before I make any assessment as to LSU‘s ability to win the west or the SEC in 2018.
I am 100% serious in hoping that you are right.

True - we need a playmaker at QB - something we had in Herb Tyler, Rohan Davey, Matt Mauck, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Zach Mettenburger.
Something we didn't have with Marcus Randall, Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee, Andrew Hatch, Anthony Jennings, etc.
Something we SHOULD have had with Ryan Perrilloux, but I digress.

“ we need a play maker at QB”
Amen!
One of my concerns for 2018 is that we well may need a play maker at RB too.

I think our most complete teams were the 2012/2013 teams with Mett, OBJ, Landry and Hill on offense and Mingo, Montgomery, Freak Johnson, Minter, Kwon, Reid and others on D. We finished 14th both years, but had the talent to be Top 5.

quote:I'm aware of all you just stated. But, the entire era from mid-70s through to Arnsparger winning the SEC in 1986 (which also included a loss to Miami Ohio), is pretty much the same. Our expectations 'ceiling' was about 8-3 and a nice bowl (whether we won it or not). #'swherei'mat #thanksalleva
Nebraska did not mud-stomp us in the Orange Bowl when Stovall was the coach, and it was Bill Arnsparger who got rolled by Baylor in the Liberty Bowl. McClendon was the coach who beat Wake Forest in the 1979 Tangerine Bowl. What is your point other than your are just another miserable LSU fan?

Canada has a chance to be good, and I liked the hire.
But, let's talk straight here..... This season was 'lost' in September because of Coach Ogre. He actually lost it in the summer and especially during August drills. He did what we accused Les of doing... he meddled in conditioning, he meddling by cutting short the time that was MUCH needed by Canada to get his new offense adapted and humming. He further meddled in September by forcing Canada to "simplify" things.
The end result was a wasted September. We were not only out of shape, but many skill players did not know much of the offense by end of September, and Ogre even admitted that the "spend more time in the film room" angle of his nonsense was pretty much never applied either.
The two biggest plusses Ogre has going for him is that he kept Aranda and was able to throw a ton of $$$$ at Canada. Both involved being allowed a very large budget for his staff. Neither involved Ogre being some kind of master builder of a program.

“Wasted September”
I have to admit that I was more than a little surprised that we didn’t see more Experimentation with the passing game in September. Maybe that was a case of Coach O meddling or maybe it was simply Canada recognizing his limitation at QB.
I think it’s too early to make any type of call on Coach O. I honestly don’t know whether or not the man will maintain what he inherited, allow LSU football to drop off, or lead LSU to multiple SEC titles. We will know better after the next four games.
I will say that to this point in time, this season has been over all a disappointment to me.
