I've changed my mind on Boutte

I decided to compartmentalize my feelings about him and I've decided I'm being overly critical of his play last night.
I put all my feelings about how he handled himself this off-season as "just business". I really can't begrudge a guy for trying to maximize his earnings. Unfortunately (for us fans), the threat of transfer is the single biggest bargaining chip that players have, so we shouldn't necessarily take it personally when a player uses the leverage afforded to him.
I removed those feelings about the business side from the equation, and focused just on the football game.
There's no sugar coating how he played. He didn't play well at all. But let's remember this was his first game back after a major ankle injury, that I believe required two surgeries. It stands to reason he might have been a bit rusty and tentative.
Maybe what I saw as checked out or apathetic was really just him being tentative in his first live game action in 11 months.
Hopefully he can get his head right and bounce back.
Random positives about him from last night...I liked how he was one of the first guys to try and pick up Nabers after his second muff. I also appreciated his effort on our final drive.

Good next time just make sure you don't post while pissed off.

He’s not going to transfer. The people that say this are idiots. He may quit the season but he can’t just go to another team and start playing he would have to sit out the year and he is draft eligible in the spring.

Bro. I was never pissed off about that game or Boutte.
I'm a grown man with a family. I don't get pissed off about sports anymore.

I don’t have a problem with players making “business” decisions, but if you choose to take the money, you become an employee. Either perform or GTFO. The jock sniffing clowns on this board don’t seem to understand that this goes both ways.

I agree. He needs to show up

Boutte was upset he was playing poorly. Nothing more nothing less

Who the hell said he's going to transfer NOW? I was talking about when he was considering transferring in December-February. You know, the off-season drama I was talking about?

Maybe you’re not as dumb as I thought

We might differ on why things aren’t going well, but I think we both agree that he needs to play better

Hopefully Kelly kicks him off the team before he has a chance to "opt out".

That’s right I stopped getting mad ! Nothing you can do about it just be a fan and enjoy the fact you get to watch football and cheer your team!

His attitude and body language didn't look good....be better and catch the ball.

It would not surprise me if he sustains a nagging "injury" that forces him to sit out several games, after which he decides to leave the team.

He may but it wouldn’t make any sense. He is a freak talent but he needs an image reboot at minimum. I know people want to compare him to Chase but Chase had two full seasons of game film out there. Boutte has two half seasons.

In his best interest and for a lucrative future, the best option for him is to showcase his talents and leave any arrogance or attitude at home.
