So when someone asks you where you went to school (assuming you went to ULL) what do you say? Do you respond with Louisiana or do you say ULL or Louisiana Lafayette so they know wtf you're talking about? If we're being honest, the only reason ULL wants to be referred to as simply "Louisiana" is so that they aren't viewed as the directional school they are.

I say either Louisiana-Lafayette or Louisiana. And 90% of the time, I'll get the response "Aren't they the Ragin' Cajuns?" So more people know than you think.

I say UL and Tech, and you know what? People know what I'm referring to. I know that may be hard to grasp, but it's disingenuous to say that you don't know what someone means when they say they went to UL (if you are in Louisiana).

If you responded to someone outside the state that you go to Louisiana, 90% of the people do not know what you're talking about. shite I wouldn't even immediately make that connection. I would likely ask which one.

No one is threatened by this, no more than anyone is threatened by UCF claiming a national championship. In fact, if you’re honest about the way you feel about UCF claiming a national championship, you’re getting a glimpse of what Non-ULL folks think about the Louisiana thing. If UCF had actually won the tittle, then respect to that. If ULL were to become the head of the Louusiana system one day and are legally free to exclusively use the name University of Loyusiana, then respect to that.

Well, you could be right, but some LSU fans are the only ones having a hard time with "Louisiana". All media outlets now call them Louisiana, including every college in the SEC but LSU. So if anyone is being petty about a name change, its probably 90% obvious to everybody outside the state who is being the petty one. And it always seems to be the ones that say "I don't care what they call themselves, it will always be ULL to me" that actually cares the most. It really bothers some LSU fans.
Just curious, but assuming LSU male fans get married, do they not have their bride take their name? Or do the females keep their own last name? Because you know some LSU fans can't accept change.
