Trey Gowdy is a former federal prosecutor and state district attorney. He's from South Carolina, not Louisiana. He's no longer serving in Congress. He has no ties to the FBI. Trey Gowdy is competent and has integrity. Name someone you would support leading the investigation that's any better. The purpose of which is to show the public it will be a fair, impartial, and truthful investigation.

This is an anonymous chat site and a great one. I love this site, and I’ve no desire to be terribly serious about anything. But I’ve worked with Gowdy while he was in Congress and I’ve hired and used Nelson Mullins in SC.
In Congress, Gowdy was a show horse, not a work horse. He was essentially disinterested on policy issues and irrelevant while working on oversight matters. Unlike the persona that he carefully and aggressively tried to create on Fox News, he was seldom respected and absolutely never feared on Capitol Hill.
Since leaving Congress, he spends much more time working with his publicist, hair stylist and tailor than he does on legal matters.
Gowdy is exactly how he is described on his Wiki page: an American television personality.
If you want LSU to run an investigation that will be contorted to become a media circus all about Gowdy, hire him. If you want what you say you do, “a fair, impartial, and truthful investigation” then I would advise looking elsewhere for leadership.
