Perkins is faster than any TE in the country.

Where’d you hear that?

Mascona gives his daily practice and scrimmage notes. He went over the personnel for each drive and Gilbert started out with the 1’s

Hearing from who?
Literally every single person watching practice It's obvious you haven't paid attention to anything he has done previously nor what he has done with eyes on him in these 6 practices.

He's going to end up being the best DB at LSU this year. His combination of tackling ability and ball hawking is something we haven’t seen from a safety since 2018 Grant Delpit.

Him, Perkins, and the transfer DT Gooden are eating at practices.

Based on what I’ve seen from the safety’s since Kelly has been here, I absolutely do not trust the coach’s evaluation. Hope to be proven wrong.
the upvotes kinda prove the lack of basic football knowledge on here. They tried getting several safeties, but that is what they ended up with last year. Kelly said things without sayings things when he said, "this is who we got". He said it in the nicest way possible that the DBs were shite, especially the safeties. This is completely different.

and couldn’t break down and tackle in the open field.

The angles are a problem, but if you have a shoulder injury that requires surgery, you aren’t going to be making form tackles without a lot of pain. As someone who’s currently dealing with a bad shoulder, it can send a shockwave of pain just moving your arm at the wrong angle, much less wrapping someone up and taking them to the ground.

But they do this year so therefore no, Gilbert has no business seeing the field unless Haulcy, Cooley or Spears gets hurt.

Bro you don’t just start players just because they’ve been there longer if they suck. You play your best talent and players that give you the best chance to win regardless. Kelly can’t afford to just ride with shitty experienced players this year that’ll get him burned in multiple games. He knows this is his make or break season so he better put the best talent on the field…… And that’s not Gilbert

It’s why LSU was at the bottom of the league in giving up big plays.

D line was a big factor as well. Their collective lack of awareness killed us at times.

Cooley played nickel at NC State but LSU moved him to safety. He is running with them in all drills and team time.

I think the small safeties, like Gilbert, take bad angles on purpose when they don't want to make the tackle. You know, a business decision. that is what it looked like several times last year. Gilbert is too light to be a great tackler.

I doubt he’s faster than Nyck Harbor y the general point is directionally correct
