White coaches won't solve anything. Doc Rivers is black and he wins championships.

with the way this offseason has gone it should be big dance or fired for tj.

Tyrus wasn't CT3 really... he was a freak accident. When Gransberry left we had a scholly open and we gave it to Tyrus at the last second
Tyrus Thomas was recruited in the 2004 class with Big Baby and Garret Temple. They did have a commitment from a JUCO player who had some issues with his coach and the school causing LSU to withdraw the offer. Tyrus was offered after that but not clear if teh two were actions were related as another scholly could have opened up ( we all know John Brady "ran off" so many players). Of course when Matt Derenbecker, Aaron Dotson, Bo Spencer, Garret Green, Delwan Graham, Dennis Harris, and Jmsion Morgan transfer out it is in the "best interest" of all parties.
As for Kentrell Gransberry, he was signed in the 2005 class and refused to stay and compete for playing time witha team which made it to the Final four. Chris Johnson, Tyrus Thomas, and Glen Davis did not leave and have made it to the NBA with Tasmin Mitchell possibly getting his chance soon. Darnell Lazare is doing well in teh CBA. Where is Kentrell today?

my bad. I thought it was Gransberry that we lost out on when Tyrus committed. I know Tyrus redshirted his first year...

They aren't making it to the big dance. I mean we might as well admit that now.

didn't Alleva get Trent's contract extended, or has it yet to be brought up before the board?
what's the low down on that situation?
Posted on 8/8/11 at 10:04 pm to bbap
yea i know but after back to back last place finishes the heat should be on for major improvements.
i might could see keeping him around if we improved greatly made the nit and recruiting was getting better.
I just dont want to see him win 3 games and get another year on his contract like this year. I was a fan of trent when he came here and defended him the first last place season but last year was a let down. This offseason hasn't been great and its not looking good.

that was a move to show recruits we were serious with the direction of the program. apparently it didn't work

going from 2 to 3 wins gets you a extra year under joe allevas watch.

That is truly pathetic rewarding a coach for pitiful performance. My concern is if Trent happens to win 5 SEC games this coming year and Joe tries to sell it as major improvement since he won as many games as he had won in the previous two combined. If that occurs and Alleva tries to sell that crap because Trent has set the bar so low both Joe and Trent need to go!

It's not so much as he cannot recruit this state. There really hasn't been much talent basketball wise here.
The talent that is here doesn't stay. We can bring up excuses all day long, but the fact of the matter is that he isn't getting it done.

yeah, kinda my thoughts too. guess all it's really done is add another yr. to the buyout.
Posted on 8/8/11 at 10:29 pm to dave11
Dave11 you know Alleva is thinking? Johnson is due for a huge raise!
Posted on 8/8/11 at 11:09 pm to dave11
We keep losing instate recruits. Tell tell something is wrong with Trent.
Posted on 8/8/11 at 11:11 pm to thanksjhester
trent has country day on lock down. He just needs some time to lock down the rest of the schools.

TJ was the wrong guy from the start. He came in here and basically told everyone who ever had anything to do with the program to F OFF. He never even tried to establish any type of relationship with anyone who could help him. He snubbed everyone, trying to do it his way and he has failed miserably. Losing Gathers and now Felix is probably the nail in his coffin. I could never understand not signing any real players his first two years here, WTF was he thinking. We are in for another miserable year with this guy with no shot at making the tournament again, he truly should have been fired after last year, I have my opinion about why he wasn't.

I don't think Trent can turn this around either.
This is his last year.
This is his last year.
