debatable. he made some pretty damn stupid throws that he got away with because he was that much better than the college players he was playing against.

Not debatable at all. Look at the numbers. Flynn and Mauck both were more turnover prone than JR. Also, both were blessed with great run games while JR never really had an amazing running game in 05 or 06.

Wallace can't throw 60 with a running start....your point?

Neither can Drew. My point is that it doesnt matter how well you can throw a ball, it is more of a head game than an arm game for QBs, at least the good ones.

Shouldn't be too much longer until JaMarcus signs with someone again.

IMO, it will probably be around a week or so after The Draft.

Understood, but to give any credit to your post, that means Wallace is more like Drew? He has the potential to be one of the most accurate passers ever to play?

Answers to both is NO. So I would rather have a strong armed in shape backup than a journeyman fill-in type qb that is also short.

I guess my point is which one has more potential while learning from Brees.

JR by a long shot.....IF he stays in the frame of mind his is now in.

That is a huge IF but he would still be better than Wallace, and JUST AS CHEAP if not cheaper.

Do yall think he still wants to wear the #2? or put him behind and start something new for himself?

Wallace probably is more like Drew, not in accuracy necesarily, but he has managed to be on an NFL team for 11 years (not get himself kicked out after 3), even though 95% of it was backup QB. I would agree that JR has more "potential" than Wallace to learn under Drew. I guess all im trying to say is i still have my doubts about JR mentally.

DITTO He is a risk, but he is a #1 pick that experts agree COULD have been great.....no doubt he MUST sit behind a veteran and learn how to study the game.

Saints just went out and signed another former #1 pick (#2?) that had failed as a potential LT, no reason to think they couldn't do the same for JR

Arizona is the perfect fit for him because Carson palmer is done. With a receiver like Fitzgerald and his former playmate Doucet, Russell can do great things there.

Jesus Christ, right???

Holy shite the guy hasn't played a down in 3 years and after two months he drops 40 pounds and is spraying lasers all over the field with the tightest spiral of any QB in the NFL right now.

shite I know there is so much more to being an NFL QB than just arm, but if he can get focused in the film room and the chalk board as well, there is absolutely no reason why he can't at least be a backup for years to come.

There is no way in hell there are 64 better QBs than JR is he's truly dedicating himself, and we have documented proof of his dedication.

As a Saints fan I would absolutely love to have him in the disaster scenario if Brees were to go down.

It still baffles me that NO team ever gave JR a second chance. How many #1 picks are completely out of the league after 3 years and never even get a minimum contract by a second team to come in and compete??? Hell Ryan Leaf bounced around to 4 different teams before he was out of the league, and still had tryouts with several more teams years later. That Raiders franchise with Kiffen/Davis was just an absolute shite show and JR was unfortunately the poster boy for that dysfunction.

And Garcia is right on. Arizona, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and I would think Buffalo and Minnesota as well would be excellent spots for the type of O JR would be comfortable in.

Speaking of, Garcia looks like he could still be out there playing too. Guy is a great mentor for JR, and I just wish there was a way JR could have a guy like him with him full time.

That's going to be the key, what happens when he isn't being trained every single day by a team like this.

Can he keep it going on his own? I just truly hope this doesn't fade out and nothing ever comes of his hard work. If he stays in shape on his own, JR will have a lot to be proud of in the very near future.

No, it just sounds like he's impressed with a former Tiger trying to rehab his image and get back in the league.

Nevertheless, there will always be overly critical douchebags like yourself that try to take away someone's optimism. Posters like you try to stand out, but you're utterly predictable and boring.

SAINTS!!!!! we could use this dude!!!

If the saints can get Russell signed and under the influence of Payton/Brees for a year, by 2014 we either trade him for a draft pick or two; or he becomes the Saints modern day version of Bobby Scott.

I am still amazed by his hairline. He is like Geoffrey The Butler on Fresh Prince.

Having said that, I wish him well. Hope he makes it back.
