That’s incorrect. On the 3rd and 6 busted coverage long TD, it’s a 3 step drop, he hits his back foot clean the balls supposed to come out, he takes a hop step no pressure, he steps up once no pressure, he steps up again still clean then he bails. Almost 5 seconds in the pocket, more time after schedule than on schedule. Smith beat his man then was washed out, on the end zone cam replay you can see Jefferson is clean the whole time with a 10 yard window right in front of him. That’s not pressure.

House is just looking for a HC job

A mix of both would be better. Certain offenses call for zone like Leach's air raid. Others I would go a little more man with a safety over the top.

I agree they should mix it up to some zone and some man . The problem is there aren’t many players capable of playing man on this roster right now.

It seems LSU defensive problems come from zone defense.

My opinion is that the coaching staff has decided that this defense cannot be a strength. They have good parts but are deficient almost everywhere in the secondary. LSU is going to play zone between the 20s most of the time and try to bank on team's being unable to consistently convert on what they give them.
We played man against FSU and got torched on one on ones. I think there is a path for LSU to play a better brand of defense but I don't think that plan is sending a bunch of guys that can't cover out to man up on receivers. This is going to be a 2013-style defense, in that they will be pretty bad. It makes sense to zone and try to bend and not break if the path to victory has to be the offense wins games for us.

On passing downs they need to just start saying F it and send at least 6. We can’t cover them anyway so at least give us a chance to get to the QB. 3-4 will not beat 5-6 the majority of the time rushing the QB.

LSU dropped SEVEN in coverage and ALL of the Hogs WRs were open.
False. Two were open. A great throw might have found a third. The fourth was covered.
Oddly, the two who were open were practically next to each other. Why no one cheated their way is a puzzle.

Seems like in zone we have always had problems with the enemy getting open. Give me Man to Man press it and Play Ball

All kidding aside.
The zone is a problem. Kiffin is going to go for every 4th down if House keeps this up. A good TE or WR will find the soft spot in the zone and it is only up to the QB to find them. If you aren't getting pressure on the QB they will find them.
If you are going to run zone, then send 5 to the QB. Or send 5 and play man.

How many years has that defensive backfield been playing together?
That may be an issue.
That may be an issue.

House spent some time in the NFL where maybe he is asking too much from the players in certain schemes instead of just letting them man up and go play
Or maybe they will gradually grasp their assignments as the season goes on. We’ll get better and better and by the time we play Bama - the next really big test - we will have a very good defense. Maybe…That’s what the coaches have to get right.

FSU has best receivers we'll see all year.
At least mix it up & blitz occasionally. Make the Offense make a play.
Also, play your best even if they're the younger kids.

They are good. They make plays. Everyone in the country with a pulse plays them much better than we can.

The bottom line is we are playing scared and as long as we are getting wins nothing will change, book it.

Coleman made a few extraordinary catches against LSU, as well.
I'll take that versus running wide open into our zone coverage.
