Very solid post, other than the title, because it matters. Alot.

I've thought the same exact thing though. No matter the "outcome", this is still the best LSU team I've ever seen.

I definitely think losing is a very real possibility. I am not super confident like everyone else that is saying we beat them by 2 td's.

I agree but also think we can win, not by 2 TDs though. That's crazy talk. The key will obviously be to make AJM look like a Soph.

Agreed. I expressed almost these exact sentiments on Facebook just last week.

This I agree with.

Come on brother, really? The guy is just being honest. He thinks this team is the best he has ever seen, but is prepared should it not turn out the way we hope it would. Our victory is not guaranteed. That's why they tee it up. Let's give the guy a break. I do like our chances and it won't be long now.

Nobody said anything about being ocntent with mediocrity. That's my point. If lSU were to lose this game, they are still not a mediocre team.

BTW, my son would kick your son's arse.

Suppose our team prepared that way? People would be screaming at the coaches.
Hell yeah it matters what happens. This team is special. I watch the hype videos and look at the depth we have and
I have a mindset that no one can beat us. And I will continue to believe that until someone does.

I get what you are trying to say, but it most certainly does matter.

that's a good way to deal with the tension.
In the Teaching of Adi Da Samraj, he makes it clear that all desire includes the seed idea of pain, because there is always the possibility that what we wish to happen, what we have a want to make happen, won't.

so, acting as though nothing is riding on it, would reduce the tension and pain of the thought of the loss and the fear of the loss.

Based on what we have seen so far, the down side is not too far down.

win = BCS champ game

lose = a good chance to be in the Sugar and probably vs Boise. that would have variables. If Georgia/USCe/Florida beats Alabama in SEC champ game, LSU does not get a BCS game.

Nailed.

Worst case scenario:

LSU goes 13-1 with a decisive win in a major bowl. If that is your definition of mediocity you are like the fan I heard in the Superdome several years back whose high school team just completed a 15-0 season and won a state title. His statement, "Yeah, we won the title and all but we could have scored more points against some opponents." Some of you have lost sight of what an outstanding season is. I hate the "Buffalo Bills Syndrome". They lost four Superbowls and were branded losers. For some you it is all or nothing.

I long for a 14-0 season this year, but if, for some reason LSU loses to Alabama will the season be a total loss? My God!!!!!

Bama fan lurking here... but I agree completely, and feel the same (but on the opposite side of things obviously).

Hell, I even enjoyed and appreciated our 10-3 season last year. And I don't see that as "accepting mediocrity". 10+ win seasons are very good seasons, and if you can't enjoy seasons like that, or good football all around the country in general, unless your team wins a title, then you are watching this game for the wrong reasons. Just enjoy the ride, whatever it may be, and don't gain your self worth from your football team like the southern stereotype portrays.

Whatever happens on Saturday, Roll Tide. And if LSU wins, in the BCS (unless there's a rematch...)

I'm not saying I am preparing for a loss, I'm just saying that if we were to lose, it wouldn't change my view of this Tiger team.

Plus, they still might have a shot at a BCS championship.

I agree with most of what inbredtiger said in the OP. But, it does matter. Why? Precisely because this *is* so far the best LSU team I've ever seen. And they won't be remembered that way if they don't even make it to the SECCG. Just the truth.

Now, when people talk about some of LSU's best teams, 1987 is still mentioned. That team did not win the SEC. One of the best LSU teams? Probably. Greatest LSU team ever? You have to go undefeated to get that title.

Either way, this team is really fun to watch and it is a bonus to know that our current coach built them from the ground up his way.

I would say this is also the best Alabama team I have ever seen. It's rather unfortunate that Alabama and LSU have to have the teams they do in the same year. I feel no matter what the outcome, the winning team is going to skate through to the BCS championship and win with ease. This is one year where the BCS system will undoubtedly fail us, because barring a rematch, everyone will know that the 2 best teams arent playing for the championship.
