I seem to recall threads saying he was no better than Dale Brown after losing to Oklahoma State early in the year. Stating he was just a good recruiter but not a good gameday coach. All it will take is a loss next season and the hate will come back. I can see it now “they should have never reinstated him” and “he doesn’t care about LSU anymore because they tried to get rid of him. He is sabotaging the season to get back at the administration”. I love this place.

I don't know for sure, but I don't recall any big names coming to VCU in his job before when he went 25 and 26 wins his first and second year there. I'd say that makes him quite a good gameday coach.

Paul Maineri would disagree. He's backed it up with numerous conference championships, conference tournament championships, trips to Omaha, and a Natty. And yet he's arguably the least popular coach on this board.

Without question. Then it’s really Torino, DD, Paul, Dennis and O bringing up the rear.

I mean if we're counting all coaches it has to be Fargas.

People are so prisoner of the moment. As much fun as CWW brought back to the campus, DD and Aranda are still higher.

You fricking pussy. Wade just won the SEC in his 2nd season.

Football averages 98k

Basketball averages 11k.

Let that sink in.

I like will wade and im glad he’s back but fact is he coaches basketball.
CEO is our football coach.

LSU football is more poplular and will always be more popular than basketball, coaches ride on that coat tail.

You can coach the most popular sports and not be popular.

I’m pretty sure O is popular.

Go to a spring tour event and see for yourself is my advice.

Most LSU fans arent miserable fricks like this board.

Popular and Best are not interchangeable.

Wade is the head coach of a revenue generating sport, so he will have more name recognition than many of the other head coaches. Hoops won the SEC regular season, so he may be the most popular right now. However, calling him the best seems to be premature.

DD is popular because how hard she has had to work to make gymnastics what it is in Baton Rouge. She is extremely active in the community and on campus, so she works for that popularity. In comparison, where results boosts the popularity of Wade.

I think Torina is unreal, but if she was to walk around campus, would people know who she is? She doesnt have the personality of Wade, DD, or O that commands that spotlight. She just coaches.

Most popular
Highest ceiling

He now has more power than Joe Alleva. You do not see that often -- especially such a young guy in a sport that often takes 3rd place.

Our coach is an awesome coach.

Most popular? Maybe. But I still think that majority of students would be able to identify Ed O before Will Wade.

Most important? Absolutely, along with Aranda. They are the 2 coaches where we should do whatever we can to retain them long term.

frick yeah. He did the best with what he had last year. Then he recruits his arse off and wins the SEC and sets things up for Tony benford as HC to take it to the sweet 16 in year 2.

That is the biggest accomplishment of a coach at this school other than saban winning the title a few years after starting here and what skip bertman did in the 90s.
