defensively, they are strong up the middle. Possibly stronger than I've ever seen for any Tiger team in 29 years.
It didn't get much better up the middle, defensively, last year than Nola and Jones. That's no knock on Bregman's SS skills (which are fantastic), it's just that Nola was one of the best defensive shortstops LSU has ever had.
The difference however is that Bregman's offensive skills as a freshman are leaps and bounds better than where Nola was at as a senior.

"Up the middle", however, also includes catcher and CF. Ross was just as good defensively last year, but we had nobody near the caliber of Laird/Stevenson in CF. By the time of the SR, we were down to using Katz in CF.

Anything can happen in a short series ,but we should host a group of tomato cans in the sub-regional then hope our two aces can get us through to Omaha. I don't want to play a third game in a Super against anybody Any injury to Nola or Eades all bets are off. Very thin at the top of the bullpen IMO ...

Oh no, we are losing. Enter rantards who want to fire coaching staff and think we have no chance at Omaha now.

Hitting is very good but I remember some great pitching staffs that got rings 2 decades ago.

Not ranting just think the answer to his question is wait and see. As I said anything can happen in a tourney are series that would keep you home. This team as most teams do struggles against superior pitching. Our two guys needs to be better than their two. Today we weren't tomorrow is a telling day with our pitching and the O needs to get going again. Looking forward to a great rubber game.

The team who hit 188 homers would have beaten Stanek. If I recall that team beat several high ranked pitchers and teams that year. This team couldn't handle Stanek. Maybe if they play again it could be different but this team is good. Just an observation.

I know Nola was a good shortstop, but he had 13 errors in one season a couple of years ago. When you are talking about a career you have to factor that in. He wasn't a freshman when he made all those errors. I feel Nola gets the benefit of the doubt on just about everything. He was a decent hitter but nothing compared to what Bregman is doing and especially not this early in his career.
