Going to be hard on the LBs this year. It's always been the DLine holding it together, but I think for us to be successful, the LBs will have to fill that role. We have a good crew though. Like you all have mentioned, Kwon, Debo, Garrett, Beckwith, Louis are all players the fans are, and should, be excited to see.

The DL returns 3 that have player a ton. The only real question mark is the other DT spot. I think Thomas and Lacouture will be fine this year. It's what comes on the field to give them a breather that is worrisome.

DT is key in 2014, and that spot will be tested right out of the gate against Wisconsin.

I think consistency in Run Defense will probably be improved over last year. AJ had a tendency to get blown off the ball and give a lot of ground in the running game. Then behind him, Welter also wasn't strong at the point of attack, and had a tendency to get washed out by blockers. Even when D.J. did make plays, he wasn't real physical. Ball carriers were regularly falling forward/dragging him on tackles.

Did you see when Louis came in last year for Welter? He was awesome, fast and explosive and hit the shite out of RB's. Why did Les and Chief not take the blinders off and start him?

I saw the same thing last year. Ever time Louis got on the field, he was in on the play. Maybe not making the tackle but always flying to the ball. Take it as a grain of salt but I was told last year that he did not do well at middle, lining up the D against the no-huddle. I think the move to the outside will pay off for him in a big way.
To the OP, I'm also really excited to see Deion. He will get a lot of playing time this season.

That sounds legit, and fits with Louis' lack of playing time last year and move to the outside.

The thing with Beckwith is that he should be able to improve the MLB position the most against more traditional offenses like Wisconsin, so I'm interested to see how much playing time he gets in the first game. The acclimatization process seems like it would be least likely to hold him back in that sort of matchup.

Lamar is extremely athletic. He looked pretty good in the spring game and the game seems to be slowing down for him now. I think he will have a big year at OLB

You put your best athletes on the field in a defense like the one that we run, so we need to throw Kwon, Beckwith, and Debo out there. Then rotate in Garrett and Louis.

Have you guys seen recent pictures of Beckwith? Guy is nfl ready physically and athletically RIGHT NOW. Got to put that guy on the field.

You will see Debo shine this year!

I really hope so. I loved him as a recruit and was hoping to see more of him last year. The dude balls hard. There's no questioning the effort he puts in, he leaves everything on the field. I hope he has a big year this season.
