This squad they have this season has not earned any respect yet. Ill respect them if they make it through these next three weeks.

not from your highness, but, somehow, they manage to be number 1 in the polls. Maybe if they are lucky they will gain your respect in the next few weeks.

The scorelines always look good, but there have been some times this season where Bama looked vulnerable.

It's Bama's depth throughout the team and the ability to wear the opponent out that sets them apart. Different methods, of course, but in that respect they remind me a lot of Oregon.

Bama's o-line and LSU's d-line are set for an epic showdown...that is for sure. The o-line won last year in NOLA, big time though

Are you kidding? LSU's D was awesome last year in NOLA. Against an extremely talented team, whose QB played brilliantly, they bent some but did not break. They held Bama to 15 points until garbage time and at least 3 were on a short field. All this while having to stay on the field because the offense couldn't get a first down. If the O could have mounted two TD drives we'd have won that game about 14-9 and would be hailing that D as the greatest ever!

They were awesome for most of the game, but they were worn down at the end. Bama's defense played a great game too, and they got help from their offense.

It was unfortunate for LSU's D how shitty the offense played, and I thought Miles really could have game planned it better (i.e. Lee in for Jefferson) but I know, you've heard this somewhere before. Once or twice.

I would rather discuss LSU vs Bama here than the SECr because over there it's a sin to admit anyone is better than you at anything, much more objectivity here

Agreed you're actually a likeable bama fan
but yea you do have to do some sifting.

LSU plays in 4-3 base and we switch into 3-4 also other looks js

I understand that a 3-4 lineman plugs holes and takes a block or two. which frees up space for your LB's while your db's play alot more zone. Just bc you like Alabama doesnt mean yall know everything about football. Our cornerbacks help our front seven by manning up the receivers(man coverage). Also the reason we have tall fast DE's which is hard match ups

I don't recall ever seeing lsu in a 3-4..I know they went to a 3 man front against aTm but that was 3-3-5 and 3-2-6 looks

nick saban ran a 3-4 at lsu? Is that right?

In 03 he ran parts of a 3-4. Saban has always mixed it up, leaning to one side or the other at times.

3-4 fits him now. Still easier to find personal since most teams run a 4-3. With Georgia and few other teams making the switch to the 3-4, the competition for key positions will increase..and that is alright with me.

Well, wasn't a pure 3-4 but more a zone blitz (Pittsburgh) or one-gap type 3-4. Classic example: NCG vs. Okla. DE Spears (6-4ish 300 lbs DE...definitely a 3-4 type DE) drops back in coverage which leads to pick 6.

FYI, the other DE was Hill (6-5ish 300lbs). Spears went to Dallas (3-4) and Hill to Patriots (hybrid 3-4/4-3 and other stuff). B. James, LB at LSU in 2002, is a pretty damn good 3-4 LB with Dallas. K. Williams with the Bills is doing pretty damn good with the Bills with a 3-4.
