All of our special team coaches have contributed on the recruiting trail- just wondering if anyone knows- Is McMahon only going to recruit kickers and punters or is he going to get an area?

How many special teams coaches were kickers? Not just LSU, anywhere.

I'll wait for your list...

His point is that typically they contribute somehow to the staff other than coverage units. We’ll see how good he is at producing kickers but he wasn’t great with the saints at all. Hell Cam Cameron was an NFL HC.

He’ll have his chance but i was just hoping they could find an ace recruiter that also could coach kickers.

Payton kept him around for 9 seasons. That's a long time to keep a coach if he isn't producing.

He has over 20 years of coaching in college. Have no clue if he's good at recruiting. I suspect none of us on this board knows that answer.

He’s been a college or pro ST coordinator since 1997. You may not like the hire, but it’s not “laughable”. He coached in college for more than 25 years before going to the Saints. Why people assume he doesn’t know how to recruit is beyond me. Name the “kicking expert” ST coordinator you would prefer.

I'm not saying that's the reason he's a laughable hire. However, with our kicking situation, he is literally no help.

If you watched the Saints special teams the last decade, you know why I think this is a terrible hire. And exactly what kind of recruiting history does McMahon even have? Eastern Illinois at best? Smh.

Lol that's not saying much. Payton also kept Joe Vitt and Bill Johnson for a decade, and we had some of the worst defenses (D-lines and LBers) in league history.

O probably doesn't even know. I can tell you one thing: special teams are going to remain mediocre here with GM.

Gary Zauner immediately comes to mind, but admittedly it is not a big list
