Not even that. He won the NC with Smoke's talent, and Smoke's talent came from recruiting based LSU's reputation.

That's big coming from lester, I remember him not liking javi, prob still doesn't, and I'll add jitters that have improved under him...... Schimpf, nola, mahtook.....

Pitching staff is young so it's hard to say, but mccune is coming along nicely and wasnt a major recruit, Kevin berry has improved from his previous college ball experience, ben alsup?

LSU is literally just a few plays from being 4-2 in the SEC with 20 overall wins. I was there for the entire UF series...first two games could have easily gone LSU's way.

I dont understand the panic. Half this team is new. It's all about the reps. More plays will be made to win games as the season progresses...i truly believe it. We have too much talent on this team to not make a big run.

as for pitching, louis coleman's development may be the sole reason we have a national title

You seriously think Grewe developed Louis?

Seriously.. In that one year huh? 8-1 before Grewe with a 1.95 ERA his junior year.

Sounds to me like Coleman was developed by a REAL pitching coach in Terry Rooney to me.

Gibbs is hard because I dont recall him ever not being good. He was stellar his frosh year before slumping a bit his soph season (Javi's first season as a non GA).

Its hard to tell about the other hitters in just 1 year with Javi as the batting coach.

mahtook

Oh C'mon... seriously? Javi made Mahtook..

You know some players are just good and would be good with either a bad coach and an excellent coach.

He batted 339 his frosh year. How has he improved because of Javi?

Javi is not a good baseball coach period.

Seriously?? Thats Grewe and not the fact that they brought in good talent?? In a couple of months under Grewe those players became good whereas that wouldnt have happend under a real pitching coach.. Seriously?

BTW just so its clear.. I do not believe
"Mainieri a 1 hit wonder" to be true. I just think that CPM and LSU can do much better with what we have to offer our players in Asst Coaches.
