I suppose my point is that things (budgets) over at bama, au, tenn, fla, uga ect must not be as bad as here in the great state of Louisiana.
The first thing i look for when entering an opponents stadium on the road is if we brought our full band or not, I absolutely love having the whole band there. However, it is not uncommon for schools to travel with limited band members - especially during these tight times for the university. LSU compared to these other schools have an athletic budget close to what these schools you said - I have no idea about band. On top of it being not uncommon to travel with less, it possibly shows some balance within the university. Last point, from what I know they usually traveling band is on a volunteer basis - not sure tough.

You are right it does come out of the bowl payout. I was in the band for 4 years(95-99). We brought the full to most SEC games and all bowls. I think South Carolina, Arkansas and Kentucky were the only pep band games. Then again, we had Wickes as director......

Does the opposition allow our whole band. Do we allow the opposition to bring their entire band? Heck...I want a band pass. I'll volunteer to do something. Run for Cola's or something

All Im saying is you wouldnt think that one big sec road game would be too much(financially) to bring the full band to.
That being said its really only between OM, bama and Au... all of which are bus trips and hotel stay isnt required.

In 2008 the full band went to Auburn
No full band in 2009 because LSU flew a group to Seattle.
Full band in 2010 was Atlanta vs. UNC.
