Bobby Bowden would kick Miles' arse if FSU had a decent FG kicker. You would not see Bowden in his prime flubbing games up against Alabama. Miles is a good coach...nothing more. Nick will win two more NC before Miles plays for another.

Lol.

Besides what you posted makes bowden an idiot. Les gives kickers scholarships. He would never have that problem. So all biwden had to do was find a kicker, shite their a bunch of kids in fla that can kick a ball and he couldnt find 1.

I heard Bowden in a radio interview about 5 years ago say he doesn't think FSU should ever join the SEC bc there are "a bunch of tigers over there."

Although the SEC in the 80s and 90s for the most part was nothing special, so he was probably only talking about now. I don't remember the whole interview.

Lets just hope 20 years from now, people will compare Miles with Bowden. Finishing in the Top 4 for 10 str8 years, will never be duplicated.
U guys are pathetic, to try and say that CLM is the new Bowden and somehow thats a bad thing?

We should be hoping at the end of his coaching days here, CLM can just get LSU in the neghborhood of the FSU run of dominance.

Bowden began coaching the SemiHoles in the mid- 70's, for crying out loud!
He could not have come close to those records with today's parity. Nor could he have close to those records with a major conference (SEC, BIG etc.) tie through his final years.
Moreover Bowden's presence in the ACC media markets overhyped his accomplishments.
Like Miles, Bowden got huge amounts of elite talent and won a lot of games with it.
The nagging suspicion with Bowden, was that in the last decade or more, he was winning on sheer athletic talent, not coaching. He may have underachieved at eight wins/ season.
Due to Les' spectacular gametime errors, the same lingering suspicion is almost unavoidable.

Lets hope the lingering suspicion becomes reality.

And what of it? FSU played Miami (Big East) and UF (SEC) every single year. What more can you for?

Im in agreement. FSU scheduled the big boys when they could, they really couldnt do much about their ACC schedule. Just playing Miami every yr back then made their schedule one of the toughest in the country. Those games were like LSU-Gumpville now full of future first rounders. FSU was big time and Bowden was as well and any dish on either of them in their heyday is puzzling.

It just baffles me that people think calling any coach "The Bobby Bowden of football" is a backhanded compliment.
