Assuming his LSU career is over with as of now. Has he done enough to crack the top 10?

Some names I assume have to populate the top 10 (in no order):

Joe Burrow
Billy Cannon
Tyrann Mathieu
Tommy Casanova
Patrick Peterson
Glenn Dorsey
Josh Reed

SEC record holder for yards and TDs in a single season. Would shatter every single LSU career receiving record if he played 4 seasons (Maybe even 3 seasons). National Champ and member of the greatest CFB team ever. Dont know how you could say so easily that he isnt.

I think he is. But to make it certain to most, I think he needs a junior season. Definitely one of the best wrs in LSU history. No doubt.

There are some other former Wide Receivers at LSU that could possibly make this claim if they played in THIS offense with Joe Burrow as the QB.

Not saying Jamar isn't a special talent, but top 10 all time? Doubtful.

If we have a full season in 2020, he'll most likely be the most productive receiver in school history. And that would be without being a top 2 receiving target in his first year, in an offense that didn't really value a third receiver.

For example, in 2018, chase was the #3 receiver and had 23 catches for 313 yards and 3 scores.

In 2019, Terrace Marshall was the #3 receiver (was 5th in total catches behind Moss and Clyde) and had 46 catches for 671 yards and 13 scores.

For those reasons, I think you have to put Chase in to that top 10 all time category.

If TM7 can be on the list, I see no reason why Chase cannot.

Chase had the greatest WR season for any SEC WR ever and currently projects to be the highest drafted WR from LSU in history.

Yes it was one season, but it was the GOAT season both for the team and him as a WR.

ETA: By the nature of CFB, the best players are only going to give you 3 seasons anyway. Most, even the best, will only give you top level production for 2 years. I think having a GOAT season should make up for missing one year, especially when it was missed for something unprecedented and out of your control like this would be

Why would we decide/talk about this after only his sophomore season?

He still has 2 years of eligibility left. Wait until he is no longer at LSU.

You can always tell someone can’t back up their reasoning with facts when they start to try and argue from a position of power.

“Oh you think statistically the greatest WR in LSU history is a top 10 LSU player? You must be way younger than me and I know more”

How about make a point against it instead of trying to belittle your opposition

Thats like saying "Why talk about LeBron's place in NBA history when he is still playing?" Sometimes a person can accompmish so much that they deserve to be mentioned amongst the alltime greats while they are still playing. JaMarr is in the category.

Well there may not be a 2020 season and we all know JaMarr will not be playing football for free in 2021.

actually, Josh Reed had more in '01. his Sugar Bowl numbers aren't included in his totals. he had 1900 receiving yards total.

As long as he has a junior season, yes
He is already on the borderline now

We had 3 WRs break the single season school record for receiving touchdowns last year. It’s reasonable to say that the offense/Burrow had a huge role in Chase’s success and that we’ve had other outstanding receivers (particularly those in the Les Miles era) that could have benefited greatly from being in his position.

fun question. He might be - let's assume he has around 500 less yards in 2020 which is ~1250 and around 5 less TDs which would be 15 (going to be 2-3 less games at least and a worse QB). That would give him ~3000 receiving yards and 35 receiving TDs in 2 seasons. That is flat out insane and no LSU player has close to those numbers in a 2 season span (Josh Reed would be match that in yards but would have 18 less TDs). So statistically, he'd be the best WR in LSU history, but clearly there's an argument to be made that he benefited from an offense that no receiver before him had. He's definitely the best 7 we've had since Leonard.

I know Joe was phenomenal but I think it really weird how people give him credit and the offense for Chase and Jets success but dont factor in how Chase and Jefferson made Burrow/the offense look great. JaMarr Chase made several first and second round CBs look like dog food last year. And it isnt like Joe laid every single pass perfectly where JaMarr and the other WOs didnt have to do anything.
