Harris isn't good enough to beat an SEC team yet. Neither is Jennings,

Would Harris have run on the 4th down in overtime , with the only thing in his field of view but the bama band? Or throw into double coverage? It doesnt take a great understanding of the playbook, I would take a chance on him. Does it matter if we win the last 2 games with Jennings? Id just as soon drop the last two to get Harris soom playing time. what if we do win with Jennings , then we start next year with a QB that is not improving ,and has already hit his high water mark. Harris will improve. Will he get a chance? No! Another DAMN good team will suffer from hopeless QB play until a loss.

Does anybody remember the NMST game? Harris was unbelievably good. Yes, it was NMST, but Harris looked better in that game than Jennings has looked in ANY game. Harris was overwhelmed at Auburn, but the potential he showed in the NMST game has makes it clear that he has more upside than Jennings. Harris just needs more playing time.

I admit it. I was fooled into thinking Jennings would progress with more snaps. While the RB screen looks like our best pass play, he has done diddly squat in any other area. I know Quinn drops a lot of passes, I know our WRs don't get open a lot, and i know that he is mostly limited to sideline passes, but geez man, you aren't told to do much, and you can't even execute that? Even without dropped passes, he would never reach 60% against decent competition with the way he plays. That's not to say he will never, but he hasn't yet.

Under 50% passing for the year, one game over 54% passing. Minus the Auburn game where he only played like a quarter or so, he has averaged only 121 passing ypg in conference play, on 20.6 attempts per game. That is a horrible 6.05 ypa average. Honestly, we look like Arkansas from last year, with a QB even worse than Brandon Allen (who was playing with a bad shoulder).

I'll use an example of true freshman Brad Kaaya, on how talent, can overcome experience, then with that experience, enhance that talent. Kaaya was an int machine early on, but his arm talent was amazing. His first four games, he had 10 TDs to 7 ints. Way too much of a gunslinger. Forced too many passes, too quick to not let a player get open, and locked on to receivers. They were 2-2 during that span (Duke Johnson wasn't himself as well). Since that time, they are 4-1, and he has 10 TDs and 2 ints. He's rocking 62% completion, 2087 yards on 9.0 ypa, and 20 pass TDs with a rushing TD.

With his weak defensive competition coming up, he should hit 3000 pass yards and nearly 30 passing TDs. He's a true freshman!

I've said all that to say, it's time to ease Harris into the rotation. They should compete on who will start in the bowl game as well. I at least hope Harris is good enough to hand the ball off 45 times. In hindsight, it would have probably been better to start him at UF even after the disaster at Auburn. Let him work through his troubles. We would probably be off much better now.

This usually shows itself at practice and obviously Harris hasn't consistently shown himself to be the better man running the offense.

Josh Dobbs. The reason he didn't play this year was because they wanted to redshirt him and because he didn't look good in practice. Worley, a volume passer with meh wheels, bored the offense and that led to a terrible rushing attack. He gets hurt, and now Peterman is the starter. He plays for about a quarter and a half before the coach has had enough. Puts in Dobbs (breaking his redshirt and Dobbs runs for 75, passes for 192, puts up 2 passing TDs, and leads the team to 20 points.

Comes back the very next week, and puts up 301 through the air, and 166 on the ground, with 5 total TDs against USCe. Now I know y'all will say that USCe defense isn't shite, and it isn't, but check out what he did in his first playing time against Bama of all teams. The guy has made the running game way better. They had 181 against b uama, and 341 against USCe. The only other time they had more than 123 yards on the ground, was against Arkansas St, at 168.

I'm saying that to say, Harris can not only get people to respect the pass, but that will in turn, make our dominant run game, even more effective.

I just feel that he will be much better this time out, than what we saw against Auburn. Getting him playing time also hurts nothing considering we'll go to a crap bowl no matter if we win or lose the last two.

I believe you're right but I haven't given up on Jennings either. Remember Dak Prescott couldn't beat out Tyler Russell for two years.

He redshirted when Chris Relf and Russell were splitting play time. After Relf left, he was a backup to Russell. Russell was a more polished passer, and finished that year with 2900 pass yards, and 24 TDs. Russell getting injured last year, allowed Dak to split time and they saw that Dak was a pretty decent. Tyler Russell was no scrub. Dak was a project, but seems like they coached him well enough.

Jennings against Harris is no contest in talent. Harris has a cannon and is as mobile as Dak. His main problem is that he is a true freshman. I really believed he needed a redshirt year. With a year in the system, plus hopefully another 20lbs, he should beat out Jennings with no problems. Like I said in another thread, Jennings would have to turn into Superman to be able to beat out Harris with knowledge of the system in the Spring.

His confidence was shattered at AU

Is anyone else tired of hearing about confidence? Why is this kind of logic so readily accepted?

IMO - If a potential QB's confidence is so easily shattered, he needs to find a new job. I have no interest in such fragile people competing for a starting QB role.
