Like others said, 40 man roster limit that includes redshirts. Used to be 35. The 4 mentioned are redshirted off the roster. Can’t dress for games or practice with team once the spring games start . Can use facility and you’re in school . Last year there were enough roster spots for all the redshirts.

Based on one of the baseball recruiting groups Im in, if they go in for one play or one at bat, they are using that year of eligibility.
One of the parents was ticked bc they were told their son would redshirt since their son was coming off an injury and then the coach decided to throw him in the game in the middle of an at bat for someone. A bunch of college coaches mentioned that the only way he could now redshirt was to seek a medical.

Unless injury is reason, if you’re redshirted as baseball player, you’re need to transfer bc you are being processed. Walkons/preferred walkons redshirt; scholarship players don’t 99% of time

Second year guy not seeing any playing time in pre-conference play is not a good sign, especially when several freshman have been put in the game for one reason or another. Maybe he's injured.
