From what I understood last year, Crowton was too expensive to get rid of. Hence, I’m thinking that Crowton is the offensive coordinator in name only, but Billy Gonzales is the de facto offensive coordinator. I know that after last year’s offensive debacle, if my job were on the line, I wouldn’t want Crowton anywhere near the press box calling plays. Moreover, like you said, Billy Gonzales wouldn’t have taken the job if it meant just a lateral move. Anyway, for both their sakes, I hope Billy Gonzales knows what he’s doing.

My money is on Gonzo slowly taking control of this offense. Then maybe at the end of the season, Gary finds a position elsewhere doing the same thing. Even if it as a smaller school. Don't have to pay the buyout cause he leaves on his own free will. And Gonzo becomes the "official" coordinator.

Seems a little contradictory. LM wanting a raise for his coach to have less responsibility. I'm not the man in charge I suppose.

Crowton got a raise in the offseason. Yet, he won't be calling his own offense's plays. More money, less responsibility.

He got the raise before we hired BG, and before our offense was 112th in the nation.

I believe it was before the season when they decided to give him the raise. But it didn't get finalized till somewhere in the middle of the season or so. I remember because at our game against FLA everyone was shitting a brick because of the fact that we just finalized the raise and could not move the ball in that game. Or for that matter any game at that point.

Correct, Crowton got a raise before football season was even started in 2009. But the raise did not kick in until around the middle of the season and everybody that calls the shots at LSU were like oh hell, what in the world did we just do.

We must have been typing our post at the same time. This is exactly how it was on that GC raise.

I would love to see Crowton on the sidelines for a change. This can possibily happen now with BG helping run the offense

That's not true. I have it on reliable information that Crowton will direct the offense from a laptop at the BTR airport.... just in case ...
