Execution always makes coaches look good. I can pick out games where PM looks "great" and where he looks "bad". Same goes for many coaches/teams.
I agree. I have only seen Vandy during this Tourney, so I'm sure they've looked bad at times too. CPM obviously knows what he's doing. You don't win 51 games on talent alone.

If you don't think he's at least in the conversation, you've forgotten how bad it was when he took over

a large share of LSU's fanbase takes him for granted.

i often wonder how many LSU fans are in this share. those that are very vocal and, in miles case, harbor much vitriol. i think we have a segment of fans that will never be satisfied or happy with our coach. the only coach i can remember that was universally loved was only universally loved when he left and was hired by bama. it's just a trait of some Tiger fans. i hate it but overall our fan base is the best. isn't it great to see the LSU fans in birmingham this week. hell, LSU is the big draw and our fans are damn loud in their support. i have not seen ANY school anywhere close. how many fans ya think vandy brings tomorrow?

Honkus, didn't you say yesterday that this team clearly didn't have what it takes to go Omaha?

LSU is very fortunate to have CPM and CLM. In addition to running ELITE programs both are high quality individuals that are great ambassadors for the university.

Geez, and then when LSU loses everyone here questions Mainieri. Seems like theres a lot of short term memory loss on this board.

This. Both of them have great personalities that make them the perfect fit with LSU. Will either go down in history as BOAT? Probably not. Are we fricking lucky to have coaches who will keep us competitive in two of the top sports? Absolutely.

if Smoke didn't prove that it's not easy to just come in and keep things on cruise control then yall will never learn. Coaches still have to perform at a high level or the decline starts. That's what happened with Smoke, and the opposite has happened with Miles.

Agree 100%. Smoke was given every opportunity to succeed by his longtime former boss and friend.

LSU has about 24,000 undergraduates. Vandy has 6,000 undergraduates, and they come from all over the world. It's kinda tough to get from Hong Kong to Hoover on short notice. The Tigers have a great following, but let's not brag about outshowing what is practically an Ivy League school.
