what happened in 2019/20 playoffs is completely irrelevant to who makes the playoff in 2020/21

In theory, this is true but when the narrative is “#1 until they lose” then Clemson are guaranteed a playoff spot until the ACC can put together a few other teams that finish better than 8-5.

Means Joe Burrow didnt fold and the LSU team didnt fold even down by 10 because they had been in pressure games most of the year.

Clemson is in the playoffs until further notice. That's just all there is to it.

This.
Let's not forget that FSU was in the top 4 for 14 straight years in that conference (ok, maybe the first 3 were before they joined). That means they would likely have been in the playoffs for 14 straight years.

I know people on here hate on Clemson for their schedule, but it hurts them just as much as it helps them.

Sure they get a cake walk to the playoffs but let’s be real. They have elite talent on both sides of the ball and would probably make it there every year anyway if they were in any conference but the SEC. the problem is once they get there they aren’t battle tested. Their guys might be healthier from less tough games, but they also haven’t had to go all 4 quarters is a single game the whole year.

I guarantee you that Clemson wants the ACC to be better than they are. That’s why they have been scheduling tougher OOC games down the road (I.e. us in 2025 and 2026)

agreed, but it didn't mean the game was over before it started.

Clemson clearly outplayed us for 20 minutes, then we utterly dominated after that.

If anyone is going to rise up and challenge Clemson in the next year or two it will be North Carolina and FSU...

They’re still saying it and it’s true. Granted it’s a cup cake schedule but they have a playoff run, championship run that can not be denied. I’d say they’re a top five program
