Interesting take. Am I misunderstanding that your take is that maybe Kelly, for whatever reason, made the mistake of hiring coaches with LA ties as their strength as opposed to the best technical coaches who will develop the athletes? It’s clear that 2025 was the worst performing team based on potential and it’s all Louisiana coaches.
That was Scott Woodward meddling

I always felt that was how Saban and Bama won at a high level. They by far had the best roster and pre-transfer / NIL had all the control. Saban is a very solid coach but the secret sauce was that it didn’t matter if they missed on a five star because the quality depth was the best in football. It was his way or the highway. That’s a hard model to duplicate.

It likely helps that he doesn’t suck as a coach

I wonder what LSU's record in 22-23-24 would have been had LSU played Indiana's schedule? Even this season...

I think it’s just the residual of COVID redshirts still hanging around. Next year should regress back to the mean.
The Pavia story is an important data point here. He basically said that with NIL he (players in general) are entitled to 4 years to earn a salary. Years at JC don't count since they don't earn NIL.
The NCAA went along with that story rather than go to court and lose. Get ready because next year players like Joey Aguilar at Tennessee will also be asking for an extra NIL year.
4 years of NIL will be come the new normal.

Could LSU fans support that strategy of roster management even if it resulted in competing for championships
Just win baby.
