I don't think we're as deep as some people think in the secondary either. Sure, we have potential future stars but we have mostly unproven guys who are very young. And another guy who has been a disappointment his entire career here(Loston) starting. Collins, Mills and Eugene haven't even sniffed the field. And our S depth is kinda weak right now...

As long as our dline performs like they should, we'll be ok though. You can make a average secondary look great with a good dline. You can make a great secondary look average with a bad dline...

Not too worried...players step up or they are processed! That's LSU

Right, we don't have experienced depth but Jenkins and Ronnie Vinson transferred out for a reason. Collins must have showed the coaches something to lock up that #3 spot the way he did. And this staff has been doing some special things with these under-recruited DBs. Although Coop is gone.

And Chavis trusted Vinson enough to put him in as a true freshman at safety. If we didn't have some quality players back there I think Vinson would have switched back. All reports about Eugene have been really positive.

'Bama's passing game typically doesn't hold a candle to 'Ark. or UGA. They just had a great night throwing in the title game and the entire Tiger team was in a funk. The Tigers will throw the ball well against everyone; including the Tide. I say the defense will still be top 10 in yardage and points while the offense probably moves up to top 30 in yardage; top 20 in scoring. More than enough balance to win every game IMO.

I actually think we are deeper than most think in the secondary, just young. Why else would 2 DBs leave within a month of the new guys getting on campus? Because the new guys are absolute studs... Besides all that, as mentioned, the DL will be much improved, and with an improved pass rush with the front 4 you will see the DBs look even better than they actually play. Lots of turnovers

Mingo is a year stronger and better
Montgomery is another year removed from his injury and has bulked up
Logan is a year bigger and stronger, he got the 18 and will show why

those 3 alone improving/maturing make the DL better if the 4th guy has a pulse.

A further look:
Ego now has a DT body and an extra year in the program
Rasco- imo will be the most improved. He was amongst the greatest pass rushers in high school history
Freak- was the greatest pass rushing DT in high school history, a year later he's in better shape and ready to make his mark
Maclin- a very good athlete that needed some time in transitioning from LB to DE
Edwards- is one of my favorites and just a sloid player
Downs- very quick off the ball and a needed veteran who is very good when he stays healthy

and I'll stop there as this can get very long... my point is we have a ton of young guys that can be expected to improve and we have more than enough talent to replace the 1 major piece we lost. Do a little research and it is far from inconceiveable that the DL will not just be better, but much better, especially when it comes to a pass rush
