When Aranda got here, it was thought that he'd be the type of guy to want to test his wits in the NFL as a coordinator. With that in mind, we figured he would only be around for a short amount of time. Apparently wanting to be a major college head coach, LSU was able to keep him much longer than I think anyone envisioned.

Brady, on the other hand, people at first figured this was a guy looking to break into the college game and become the next Lincoln Riley type. Why else leave from under the tutelage of Sean Payton if he wanted to be an NFL OC? After all, no NFL franchise would be crazy to hire someone as an OC with such limited experience unless he orchestrated the best offense college football has ever seen by a long shot (oh shite, he did).

Life comes at you fast.

On the bright side, we get to see if Aranda is gonna be worthy of replacing Coach O down the line.

You are correct about Aranda. I thought he would be here maybe two years, tops. He was heading to be a mid-major head coach and then maybe a top tier head coach.

As for Brady, LSU was his first real job. He wasn't even a position group coach here. He was the "passing game coordinator." What the hell is that? If he can parlay that into being a full offensive coordinator in the NFL, more power to him.

That's sort of my point here. No one expected that to be a possibility really. I doubt he even did this quickly. It's impressive.

Because being a PGC is a much higher profile
Position than offensive specialist.

Brady is hot now, but he's making a mistake leaving so early. There are many facets to being a NFL OC. It's not a place for on the job training. He'll find out the hard truth. Just dealing with spoiled millionaires will be a painful adjustment. I wish him luck. We shall see.

if he fails, he'll just get a high paying college gig as an OC and build toward being a HC. all while getting paid big money. not seeing a downside.

This was all made up. It was never actually verbalized by either of them.

Someone made a suggestion about these guys and people just ran with it.
