I'm not being pessimistic just realistic and stating facts based on history.
Look at the 2013 receivers for instance. We had a high powered offense with one of the top QBs in the conference. Who was our 5th receiver on the depth chart? James Wright? Q. Leslie? How much of an impact did those guys have? Wright never even made a catch that year. So now you think a sophomore QB led offense is going have 5 WRs make major contributions throughout the season?
Is this your first season watching a Les Miles coached football team? He has used the same formula every year. Play close to the vest on offense, rely heavily on the defense and take chances in special teams.
You're more than welcomed to get your hopes up and think our 4th and 5th WR will catch 20-30 balls this year but you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

those WR's were pretty terrible outside of the top 2.

You don't come in and start as a true freshman without showing the coaches something.

This. I don't understand how Quinn is suddenly buried in the depth charts.

That's what happens on the Rant when you're the voice of reason in August. All everyone wants to hear about is all the cool 5 WR sets we are going to run and imagining who would be on the field for all our wildcat formations.
These are the people freaking out in the score board thread when we are only up 10-7 versus McNeese in the 2nd qtr.
If you wanna watch a flashy team, your best bet is to start following another team.

Please point out where the frick in my post I stated that.

No a-hole. I'm 49 years old and have watched EVERY season intently since the early 70's.

How does that quote reconcile with the following?

Again... Where in the HELL did I say anything remotely like this??? YOU were the one who stated that we only complete maybe 10 passes per game. Stated it in a manner indicating that this year is going to be no different.
fricking IDIOT!!!

Kadron Boone wasn't a terrible #3 and Dural was a pretty good #4.

Whatever man. Don't ask shite like this:
and not expect to piss somebody off.
Especially when your initial post that I responded to was fricking idiotic!!!

Easy. He had two drops in the Bama game; the posters who think he should be the fifth wideout use that game as the reason why. Even though all the WRs struggled in that game to a degree, he became the whipping boy.

Now that we have a QB that can throw short/intermediate routes, I see no reason why he couldn't be a big contributor for us

Yep. He was constantly open in the middle last season; a talented QB like Harris, who now should be more polished, can get him the ball.

You disagreed and called me pessimistic because I said the 5th WR will likely be irrelevant. I then gave facts to back up my point.
I don't see why that's so idiotic and upset you so much.

I said I had left my pessimism behind due to the way Harris looks so far. What I disagreed with in your initial post was you stating the we only complete maybe 10 passes per game, like it's already a done deal that that will not change this year. I've already spelled that out for you a few posts back from here.

Facts that contradicted each other when you pointed to the 2013 season of high powered offense.

Again, this is what set me off:

It really rubbed me the wrong way.
Now, with that said, I do apologize for the anger in my replies. Just kinda got set off there.

And maybe I should clarify that what I consider to be contradicting is not the number of receptions for the 4 and 5 WRs in 2013. More that 2013 showed that with good QB play we can be more potent and complete more than 10 passes per game.

Now Quinn has started wearing contacts and is seeing the ball much better, and it clearly shows.
Holy shite, all this dude needed was some contacts and he could have caught potential game sealing third down catches?
fricking wow.

The stat lines for our receivers at the end of the season will probably look something like this:
WR1 60 rec 900 yds 8 TD
WR2 45 rec 700 yds 7 TD
WR3 20 rec 300 yds 3 TD
TE1 30 rec 300 yds 2 TD
While we are certainly stacked at WR.. it's going to be an intense competition for that WR3 spot between Diarse, Quinn, and Chark. My vote personally is for Quinn since his skill set varies the most from Dural and Dupre, but it'll be interesting to watch.
With Johnson on campus and Sullivan and Anderson committed (for now), we may see some transfers from the position next year.
Posted on 8/8/15 at 1:05 pm to chilge1
Really hoping this is all it was with Quinn and he can get back to just playing football and doing great things for our Tigers.
Anyone hearing anything about how Tyron Johnson is doing this spring? Being such a great HS WR, would it not be a surprise if he gets some major minutes this year, or is he going to be buried in the depth chart this year?
Edit...ok maybe not major minutes but at least get a lot of playing time?
