Why is that relevant to this thread?

Even though he gets a degree it's still not enough. Just think about all the millions of dollars he helped bring in by performing on the field. He's probably going to need knee replacement on a few years. Just because someone gets a degree doesn't mean they automatically get a good paying job. I am for the players in this situation.

You can't rationalize this with the idiots on Tiger Droppings.

These kids are disposable forms of entertainment for them. They don't care what happens to them. And if the player is injured, so what? Their fault. They knew.

If a player wants to protect his health/wealth, the Rant crucifies them.

Louisiana is one of, if not the worst in the nation in healthcare. And I'm not talkin about the patients. It's a pretty widely accepted truth. This is anecdotal but my wife has a shitload of clients and all the rich ones go out of state for health care. Mostly to Houston. Look at the constant injuries and misdiagnoses that occur with the Saints and LSU. In general, people here are just terrible at their jobs. That cultural trait doesn't just disappear once you get your doctorate. There's only a few trades that Louisianians are above average or excellent in when compared to the rest of the United States. Politicking, lawyering, bartending, cooking, fishing and tour guiding.

This is so short sided and ignorant. LSU athletes get top notch medical care. LSU is actually doing study on a different type of ACL surgery they have been performing that helps athletes recover faster.

I’d think if it was widespread there would be more stories out there.
Anomalies happen everywhere and of course the affected person wants to vent.

As far as Louisiana having only incompetent doctors all I can say is LOL.

how do you pay them??? does the 3rd string te, (83rd schollie on the team) get what devin or greedy get?? the reality is, there are a handful of players on each team that move the needle on creating value for the school. most guys are cogs in the machine. they are offered a free ride, which the avg family would KILL FOR, and they are treated like absolute kings in VIRTUALLY every way while doing it. you really think burrow, guice, greedy, devin, beckham pay for shite when they go out on the town??? by the way, the studs get PLENTY under the table at schools like LSU.

A relative of mine was a female athlete at LSU in the not to distant past. She got hurt was continually told by LSU doctors she was fine and her coached pushed her to practice/work out (off-season at this time). When it got to the point where she could barely walk her parents made her go to a non-LSU physician who found multiple stress fractures and ligament damage. She had a procedure and started PT supervised by the LSU doctors. They cleared her well ahead of the timeline for recovery the family doctor presented. Said athlete works her arse off and figured she was just ahead of schedule do to her dedication. During her first team activity she again felt the discomfort and the coach pushed her to continue even though she was obviously not ready to be back. Said coach was pissed when she shut herself down again at the advice of the non-LSU doctor. She sat out the season and did not return to the team afterwards. It took a full year and a half from the time LSU cleared her until the time she was actually healed from her injuries.

You can find stories like this in almost any college athletic program. And many high schools, for that matter. Certainly not just LSU. Though obviously, the more money at stake and/or the pressure to win, the more likely it becomes.

Never ceases to amaze me how many clowns "love" football, but don't give a flying frick about football players.

I'm not asserting that you cannot find stories like this in almost any athletic program. Just sharing another instance of this happening at LSU. As a side note, she, nor her parents, are bitter towards LSU about the experience. She continued to attend the university and still regularly attends athletic events since she's graduated.

Your right. The guy is probably going to be walking with a cane by 40, because of knee surgery. But some feel he should just shut the hell up. SMH, just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

I dunno man. Yeah football programs use players, but there are plenty of players that start a ton of games and are not debilitated at the end of it to the point where they can't pass an NFL physical. Remaining as healthy as possible is primarily a personal responsibility.

Doesn't seem to be hurting for money by his social media. Looks slimmer now too.

And if you are a 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 year-old kid, and you are told by a team M.D. that you are "good to go"? You tell the M.D. he's wrong? Really?

Ridiculous. You assume the university has provided the very best in medical care and you play through the "superficial pain". Either that, or you're on your way out of the program. On a fast track.

How do you feel about our young veterans that need canes and wheelchairs before they are 30?

Same way. Federal government needs to do a lot more for our veterans. From physical care and mental care as well. I feel the same way there as well.

I am pretty sure he could have made a roster if not hurt. League minimum is $450,000. That's a lot of jack.

You are only guessing. Due culd have been a flop or got a career ending injury in training camp his rookie year. No one knows how much money he missed out on.
