Seems like he is ready to hand Brandon the keys.........FINALLY!!!!!

Miles or any coach isn't going to hand Brandon anything. He has to earn it. He has to show up to film sessions and practice on time, he has to learn the playbook and show on the field he can run the right plays. If he grows up a little and puts in the work required he'll be the starter.

What is he basing this assessment on? I like Miles but I've learned over the few years I've been in the south watching LSU football that what this man says is never to be confused with quantifiable information.

Most people who watched the New Mexico St. game and the spring game knew Brandon was better thrower and runner. This has all the earmarks of just not knowing the playbook and presnap reads. Brandon is a smart kid and once he gets it he will leave Jennings in the dust. I was at the New Mexico St. game and Brandon could have went 0 for 15 in the Auburn game and I would still know who's got better tools. Jennings is a placeholder and will be holding a clipboard before too long.

On this note...isn't Harris actually pretty new to football? I swear I remember hearing that the kid had literally never played organized football prior to his sophomore year or something. If true, does the above REALLY surprise anyone? We're not talking about a D lineman where sheer athleticism can make up for rawness...we're talking about the QB position.

LINK

In a perfect world, and let's be clear...THIS is something Miles and his staff ought to have to answer for...LSU should be in a position to NOT have to play a true freshman QB. Period. Harris, much like Jefferson before him, should never have been in a position to HAVE TO play. In good situations, true freshman QB's ought to be sitting their asses down and learning what it takes to play at this level. Even then, though there are exceptions, QB's clearly get better the longer they are in the system...so unless he simply took the job away from the older player Harris should likely not even have been the starter in 2015. Look back to how long Perriloux had to wait because he had more experienced and better players in front of him.

LSU is now having to play the hand we have. Disagree all you want, but Miles and Cam clearly thought Harris was not ready and/or felt that continuing to push that would not make the situation better. If it means the young man is not broken for the next few years like Lee seemed to be after 2008 AND he grows into the position like most good QB's do, then 2014 will have been the right call even though it will have been difficult to have sat through as fans.

What's going to annoy the hell out of me is if BH is a serviceable QB next year. This board will be miserable. I've heard from a program insider that echoed the play book and presnap read issues. You have no chance in the SEC if you're winging it

If the opening game he trots out AJ to start the season it is a bad sign-

SPring practice and Scrimmage will tell us a lot

BS. Miles has played who he wanted since he's been at LSU. What Miles said about BHarris ANYONE that's not a PUMPER seen this, BUT he STARTED AJ anyway. After the spring game where AJ was AJ threw 2 pick SIXES and Harris had a really good game meant nothing to MILES his little MIND was made up. Joe Montana could have been there and AJ would have been the starter.

This is why we can't have nice things, people...

I'd agree. I like Jennings...seems like a good kid. I also happen to think we've seen the very tippy top of his potential. I wish it was not the case. Could he be less bad with time? Yeah...probably. But the young man simply does not seem to have the tools necessary to be a weapon in the passing game in the SEC.

So...if he ends up starting next Fall it likely means that the staff STILL thinks he's the best option. What people still seem to miss is the word "best" option. Not a "good" option, but the best available. If that's the case, we're in trouble...and like I said, the staff will absolutely have to answer for why LSU can't get and produce a serviceable QB on campus.

If I were insane, the above would look like Miles simply picked a favorite and purposefully went with the guy he thought gave the team the worst chance of winning...or whatever asinine argument people continue to use for 2008-2011.

Les really wants AJ to be his QB and that's very obvious.

Yeah that's why he benched him for the other guy.

Harris wasn't calm ng the right plays. They would send the personnel out there and he'd be calling plays out of the wrong formations. I truly believe they want Harris to be the guy. He just needs to work harder, which is from Harris own words.

If we are going off spring games, then Richard Murphy would have won the heisman at LSU.

After the spring game

It's not really a game. It's a scrimmage where 1/2 of the team plays the other 1/2 of the team. I recall a starting throwing 5 ints. in one of them and going on to QB the team to a NC. They are a practice session just like the 20 others in the spring.

If that were true, Harris would never have started the Aub. game. He did start that game and was totally lost in it.

I don't give a flying flip who starts, but I will go with a staff decision made after watching both guys 24-7. There is a ton of staff going on that LSU coaches see that fans don't. Why the need to 2nd guess this decision, that we really know shite bout, is beyond me. Some act as if Miles/Cam want to lose games rather than play a QB they know is better. After watching JL continue to be the starter after JJ came back and watching Harris start this season, I have to call BS on that kinda delusion.

I was told by a players family that he really didn't know the playbook

This is known by many but yet the know-it-alls here think BH was the better option. The kid was calling plays from his High School when he got in.

Doesn't matter if BH is 1000x better talent than AJ, if he can't call the plays the rest of the offense knows.

There is a reason BH didn't play more. And contrary to what the Rantards say, it's NOT because Miles is just stubborn.
