We'd like to look at rooms now for the Wisc game. Can any of you recommend area near stadium?? The last time I was down that way I know the area close to old Dome was kinda ratty.

Not much has changed, so you'll have to do some research.

Hasn't changed, look in downtown and take the rail. Or you can stay near galleria or greenway plaza and drive.

Search the rant. There has been quite a few threads on the issue that give details. Stay downtown or on the light rail route(museum district med center). Astrodome area is a shite hole and hotels are not that nice.

Most of the hotels in the Galleria area are nice...it's about a 10min drive to the stadium. We like to stay at Westin Galleria.
The hotels near the stadium arent very nice.

Depends on what kind of spender you are. There's a Holiday inn Reliant Park which I think is awesome because you can walk to the game. That traffic is going to be elfin' miserable

I recently found this website called hotels.com

The site specializes in hotels and you enter the date and location of where you want to go and it gives you a list of hotels that are available with price. It's pretty cool!!

Houston has a million hotels and no one goes to that city for the weekend.

There will be no difficulty finding a room. There is no ideal hotel, the city is spread out for a hundred miles. Just pick one and drive or cab.

Traffic after games is not bad at all. Especially if you are used to traffic leaving tiger stadium. Try to buy a parking pass in a lot that is on the proper side of the stadium for your exit route. The traffic going into the city (north on kirby) is usually least bad. Getting onto 610 is usually worst, but still pretty orderly. Light rail is a snap for getting into midtown or downtown. Just buy your ticket in advance (like when you get to the stadium) so you don't have to mess around with it when you are trying to leave. You can't buy them on the train.

Stay on light rail route. Do not stay near Reliant no matter how close hotels are. Not terribly nice hotels and even worse neighborhoods.

I live in Midtown. Downtown and midtown are going to be pretty wild on Friday and Saturday. Much better than the Galleria area

Wonder why they didn't squeeze Reliant somewhere between Minute Maid, Toyota Center, and the Dynamo stadium?

Get a hotel next to a metro rail stop, idk where, check, take the rail to Reliant. Midtown or downtown should get you close.
If you go galleria 81/82 bus down westheimer to the rail to Reliant.

Not much available real estate in that area to accommodate a football stadium + parking

Best deal is tweeties on 610 and main. Right across the street from stadium and cool atmosphere.
