No, it’s not 100% anything

Great hitters have great batting eyes. They can work counts, hit with 2 strikes, and can recognize pitches better than others. It’s trainable but only to a point. At this point of development you either have it or you don’t.

More credit to Jay for recruiting great players. He will tell you the same thing

When you have superior bat speed, you can wait a couple extra hundredths of a second to recognize the pitch. Makes a difference.,

Then you have to be disciplined enough to do that.

Indeed it’s true but bat speed without recognition is fruitless.

Recognition skills are still the key to hitting.
