In normal times, Coach O’s extension would reach 20 pages

These are not normal times. Coach Orgeron’s two year contract extension and $500,000 raise with incentives would normally be the heated conversations of the week, totally shocked today that it barely gets any recognition at all. LSU fans are completely consumed by the Wade controversy and LSU Admin’s handling of it.
This is reality positive news for LSU football and the players, LSU’s staff and our players can focus totally on beating the crap out of Alabama.

It is also a sign that people have lost faith in the administration to ever get their act together so there is not much point in complaining about their management of football.

There should be no signing of any extensions for anybody at LSU at this point and time. There is smoke coming out everywhere for our entire University, not just the athletic department. If changes need to be made then those people who are about to be sent packing don't need to make these decisions.

This extensionf for Coach O is really fair to both sides, fans are so angry at the LSU BOS handling of Will Wade that they can’t see straight at the moment.

This isn't the point. We shouldn't have people who might be handed a pick slip soon have the ability to potentially sink the university even further. I'm not saying this is what they are doing with Orgeron, but I'm saying they shouldn't be allowed to do anything at this point in time.

i am not happy with the buyout either. but all the media types consider don't seem to consider it a roadblock if changes need to be made. i personally think the extension/buyout for "recruiting purposes" is a giant scam created by agents, but i guess we will see.

Of course it is. The Orgeron camp knows that the ice is thinning under this incompetent administration. They are trying to gain some extra security before it's too late. If a new president and AD come in, they will have a closer watch on football than any other sport. Orgeron is smart for trying to get this now, but LSU shouldn't be doing this now. Of course, that means it will be rushed to the front of the line, and happen immediately.

I’m for the raise and against the buyout, but if Orgeron is caught up in the apparent corruption, the buyout won’t matter. “With cause” nullifies any buyout.
I do agree that the people in charge shouldn’t be making any decisions right now, hence the call for their immediate removal and hiring of interims by Lipsey.

The buyout is only bad if they fire him after 2019 which they aren’t doing without cause unless he only wins 2 games or something like that. Even that would probably take something drastic. In March 2020 the buyout goes down 250K a month until it drops to 4 million in March 2021. Even the 10 million dollar buyout is on the low side compared to the rest of the league.
This may make some people mad but the extension basically means that O is the coach at LSU until 2021 season is done barring two disastrous seasons in 2019 and 2020. Like not making bowl games and such.
