What premise is that, Cap?

Better luck next time !
Yeah, you got me there. All these people arguing against you failed, too.

I can certainly agree with you here, Podna.

I know a little about warfare and a little about football, and, in my opinion, it's a good analogy.
First of all, I agree that to compare a game with a war is absurd. Second, you have the right to say that because our founding fathers did not think the same way. General Washington was not replaced in spite of losing more than he won most of the time. Duh! The analogy sucks.

This premise:
quote:
When a Commander screws up and causes a loss in a combat situation, there are no second chances.
The Commander is RELIEVED FROM HIS COMMAND and replaced without getting a second chance.
For instance, I don't recall General Lee being relieved of his command following the debacle at Gettysburg. That's one of a thousand instances of your premise being completely absurd and false.

I do LOVE your avatar, though !

Well shite, in that case most of the great coaches out there would be relieved of their duties time after time after time.
Stoops would be relieved 5 times for crying out loud!

Oh, we have a live one here !
So when a commander fricks up a combat situation so badly that his superior commander loses confidence in the subordinate commanders abilities, your saying that the subordinate commander cannot be immediately shite-canned?
What happens then, Snookums? Is there a trial or something?

Good point.
Do Bob Stoops's teams look confused, clueless and without adult supervision very often on the football field?

General Johnson was relieved of his command during the Atlanta Campaign and General Hood was appointed in his place.
WAIT A MINUTE, ARE YOU SAYING THAT COACH LES MILES IS EQUAL TO GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE???? !! HOW MANY FRIKIN MUSHROOMS HAVE YOU EATEN TODAY, GOMER??

YES! That's how you lose 5 games in a season!

LSU, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints!
Sorry you don't agree with my on my military analogy.

Can we at least agree that Bob Stoops is a good name for a Gay Man and that Bob Stoops looks like a queer who lives in his mother's basement?

. . . and I ain't being paid by the taxpayers anywhere close to four million a year for it, neither, Alice !

...sigh... I will try again from a different angle
If Miles were to commit something along the lines of dereliction of duty, such as showing up drunk to a game, or if he committed an act of gross misconduct, like physically beating a player, there would be grounds to relieve him.
Tactical decisions that don't work out do not get officers fired from their post or command. Things go wrong all the time in the military organizations and in civilian organizations. The nature of the mistakes such as those that you questioning will merely be noted by your superiors, and when you are due for another fitness report, you may score badly compared to your peers in some areas, the long term effect being that you are less likely to be promoted when you get the opportunity. And if you continue to screw up, may eventually be asked to retire.
Have a great day

Neither is Miles, Billy.
Well, maybe he is, now that I think about it. I'm not really sure if he is payed by TAF or the state.

You are going to think I'm crazy for this but, Billy Kilmer is my all-time favorite Saints quarterback !
I like Drew Brees and Archie too, don't get me wrong, but . . .
Billy Kilmer! What guts !! What a tough competitor!
Any way, I'm off track here . . . OH WHAT THE HELL! LET'S TALK ABOUT BILLY KILMER AND JIMMY TAYLOR!
Miles doesn't deserve anybody fighting over him.
